Ready or Not is being review-bombed on Steam, and the controversy ties into the game’s upcoming console release.

With popular shooters such as Rainbow Six moving more towards PvP, and others such as SWAT dormant, there was a void in the market for tactical PvE shooters. This void was then filled by VOID Interactive’s Ready or Not. Ready or Not was everything you loved about the OG Rainbow Six and SWAT games, brought to the modern age with cutting-edge technology. The game was a massive success, with players raving about it on Steam reviews.
This last part may be hard to believe now, however, especially if you take a peek at the game’s recent reviews on Steam. Ready or Not has been review-bombed on Steam as of late, and currently sits on “Mostly Negative.” How did this popular tactical PvE game come to fall so hard, you may wonder? It all ties into the game’s upcoming console release and the controversy surrounding it.

Ready or Not Review Bomb Controversy Explained

When Ready or Not was first released, it did so on PC and in early access. The game was an instant success, so much so that a console version was inevitable. Now, we’re a week away from the console version, and it is this exact version that is at the root of the review bombing on Steam.
To bring Ready or Not to consoles, developer VOID Interactive had to tone down the mature elements of the game. The gore has been reduced, and the n*dity is now completely absent. These changes are to accommodate the game’s different age ratings on consoles. While this makes total sense, the changes made for the console version of the game have also been brought over to the PC, which has infuriated the respective playerbase.
Many PC players believe that the experience they paid for and enjoyed up to this point is now lesser. Many players have advised against a single version of the game, suggesting that the PC and console versions be kept separate. Void Interactive has not yet responded to this suggestion. To make their displeasure known, the PC players then took to Steam to review bomb the game.
