Fierce Tiger isn’t an optional boss. You’ll have to take him on if you want to progress the main story past a certain point. He is the final encounter in the Mount Zhenwu region, which occurs around midway through the game.
After defeating Liu Wenxiu, proceed through the Zhenwu Temple and reach the top. Then, proceed to the Pavilion of Knowledge Shrine inside a cave nearby. From here, climb the stairs and proceed across another section of the temple’s rooftop. Then, drop down into an area where some enemies are arming cannons.
Up ahead will be another shrine, and just beside it is the doorway that leads to the Fierce Tiger fight. The proximity to the shrine means you won’t need to spend much time getting back to the boss if you die during the battle.
All Fierce Tiger and Zhang Xianzhong Moves
You will need to master defensive maneuvers against all of the moves made by the boss in its Fierce Tiger and Zhang Xianzhong forms. Unfortunately, some moves between the two are different.
Fierce Tiger Moves
The following table lists down all of the moves that you’ll have to fend against when fighting the Fierce Tiger.
Move Name | Description |
Double Thrusting Charges | Two consecutive lunge attacks. |
Frontal Charge | Most likely opening attack during the battle. It will charge towards you and launch a headbutt. |
Lightning Roar | A roar that’ll cause lightning bolts to strike all around the boss. Move behind him to remain safe. |
Claw Swipes and Slams | As the name suggests, the boss will slam down on you with its claws or swipe at you. |
Lightning Tail | A charge-up attack where the Fierce Tiger swipes its tail to cause a lightning wave across the ground. |
Lightning Paw | The boss will imbue its claw with lightning and then slam it down on the ground, causing AoE damage. |
Lightning Orb | The Fierce Tiger releases a lightning orb that works like a homing missile, tracking you for a few seconds before exploding. |
Lightning Somersault | Similar to the Lightning Tail move, but in this instance, the Tiger will rotate its tail swiftly before releasing the lightning waves. |
Lightning Laser | The boss shoots a powerful laser beam that deals lightning damage on strike. |
Zhang Xianzhong Moves
The table below lists down all of the moves that you’ll need to be wary of during the Zhang Xianzhong phase of this battle.
Move Name | Description |
Double Claw Swipe | Instead of one claw, the boss now uses two claws to swipe. The speed of the swipes is also increased substantially, compared to Fierce Tiger. |
Aerial Lightning Slams | Zhang Xianzhong will begin the battle with this move, where he will leap into the air and unleash two lightning bolts around him. Then, he’ll slam down on the ground to cause massive AoE damage. |
Double Lightning Laser | The Tiger and Zhang Xianzhong will both fire laser beams of their own, so you’ll need to dodge both. |
Triple Lightning Orbs | Three lightning orbs will follow you around. The explosion triggers as soon as the third orb gets close to you. |
Lightning Glaive Slam | Zhang Xianzhong will drive the Glaive into the ground, which also triggers the release of lightning orbs. You’ll need to avoid both the initial Glaive slam and the resulting orbs. |
Lightning Roar Stomps Into Headbutt | The Tiger will roar to cause lightning bolt strikes, which it will then follow with two consecutive jumps and a final headbutt. |
Lightning Glaive Run | Zhang Xianzhong drives the Glaive into the ground and moves toward you, causing lightning surges all around. |

How To Beat Fierce Tiger and Zhang Xianzhong in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

As we said earlier, this particular boss battle has two phases, where you’ll first take on the Fierce Tiger. After you deal enough damage to the initial boss and take it down, the second phase begins as Zhang Xianzhong emerges. Here’s a look at how you can tackle both phases.
Beating Fierce Tiger
As you might have already surmised from the table above, Fierce Tiger simply has too many moves in its kitty. And many of them are particularly difficult to dodge or parry. That’s why we suggest using the Ethereal Form spell as much as you can to get through this initial phase. The spell lets you auto dodge all attacks within a three-second window. To make use of this spell effectively, you can use the following pattern – use Ethereal Form to dodge attacks for three seconds, unleash two attacks on the enemy next to trigger the Sword Saint effect, which will let you stack Skyborn Might. With that, cast Ethereal Form again. Follow this cycle to defeat the Fierce Tiger, but make sure to manage your stamina levels properly.
Beating Zhang Xianzhong
Zhang Xianzhong has some of the same moves as Fierce Tiger, only they are much more intense and deadly this time around. Ethereal Form is still essential, and you’ll need to cast it almost immediately after its effect ends. Zhang Xianzhong does not relent in his attack, and you’ll get very little time to react. If you evaded most of the attacks during the initial phase and some of the attacks that Zhang Xianzhong unleashes, you’ll be able to use the poise break to stun the boss. Then, execute Obliterate to take away a significant chunk of the boss’s health.
The biggest thing to remember here is that you’ll need to conserve your stamina so that you can chain together Ethereal Form casts. So, minimize sprinting, which can quickly drain your stamina bar.
