1. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Splinter Cell delivers everything a hardcore MGS fan craves. From extremely sophisticated infiltration mechanics to an incredible atmosphere, haunting ambiance, and the satisfaction of sneaking up behind enemy lines, everything is there. Give Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, or any Splinter Cell title, a try; it will be worth your time. 

2. Dishonored

The classic Dishonored 1, which features a true ending if played stealthily. As Corvo, you get supernatural abilities, like teleporting, stopping time, and possessing enemies. With these powers, you have multiple choices in-game; the more you choose to create chaos and slay enemies, the bitter the game treats you. The more stealthy and forgiving you are (non-lethal takedowns), the better the game and the environment treat you. Dishonored is arguably one of the best stealth games ever created, and it will be worth your time. Moreover, if you like it, there’s a sequel to try out too.

3. Hitman: World of Assassination

Another classic is Hitman: World of Assassination. Over here, Agent 47 is basically Snake, but in a suit. Instead of the jungle, you blend into crowds, using disguise. Each level can be solved in multiple ways, making it a complex puzzle. You can poison your targets, throw them off a roof, or start an accident that puts the wheels in motion for your target’s annihilation. You can incorporate lots of creative ways to take down enemies, and each of them feels highly rewarding.

4. Thief: The Dark Project (Gold)

Way before Snake started to sneak in. Garrett was an expert in stealing. The title is quite old, dating back to 1998. It is one of the best stealth games and has inspired games like Dishonored to become what they are. Some aspects, such as using light and shadow as gameplay elements, sound-based detection, and non-combat infiltration, were revolutionary aspects among other things. The graphics may not please you, but the gameplay will undoubtedly make up for it.

5. Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima, like Dishonored, can also be played in a fully stealth or entirely chaotic manner. Stealth mechanics are a lot simpler than in MGS, but the game nails the honor and chaos where needed. For example, you can approach Mongol camps head-on with full samurai combat, gear, and stance, or just sneak up from behind as a deadly ninja. The beautiful open-world design matches what MGS offers, although MGS is technically zone-map based; however, the polish that Tsushima offers is yet to be delivered by the Snake Eater.
