Being the final boss of Hades 2 puts Chronos, the Titan of Time, at a level surpassing the rest of his forces. The father of Hades and grandfather of Melinoe is the final boss for a reason. His mastery over time makes his moves tricky to survive and even harder to counter.

However, no foe is insurmountable. With that said, let’s kill Time.

Being the final boss of the game, Chronos can be fought at the end of an Underworld run. You must defeat Hecate, Scylla and the Sirens, and Cerberus before entering Tartarus to reach the main antagonist of the game.

Moreover, being a main story boss means you cannot miss Chronos by going through some alternate route (unless this route is named the Surface). Once you battle through the rest of the Underworld, you will be able to enter the House of Hades and face Chronos in combat.

Chronos Titan Of Time’s Moveset In Hades 2

The boss version of Chronos in Hades 2 has a very dangerous set of moves. Most of these involve either using his scythe or many of his time-honored techniques. You will likely want to face him multiple times to get familiar with his large moveset. Moreover, this is one of the few bosses in the game to have a second phase. So, don’t let up if you deplete his health bar once.

Some of his attacks can even be chained together up to three times. Moreover, at the start of the fight, Chronos will also be accompanied by Satyrs who act as minions during the boss fight. Use wide-hitting AOE attacks to hit Chronos and these smaller enemies together.

First Phase

  • Scythe Toss: Chronos throws his fabled scythe in front of him. It goes out from his left side and spins in a semi-circle until reaching his right side.
  • Rift of Time: Chronos charges for a brief period before dashing in front of him. This also leaves behind a dark rift over the distance he covered. Do not stay near the rift as it will explode after a brief delay.
  • Time Spheres: Chronos summons orbs in a circle surrounding him. These deal damage if they make contact, but disappear after some time.
  • Sphere Release: The boss creates orbs similar to the previous attack, but in greater numbers. Instead of keeping them close, he sends them outward. They go out and then curve back to Chronos. Your best bet at avoiding this attack is to sprint outside the range of these orbs.
  • Time Twister: Chronos spins his scythe while holding it in his hand, creating a suction effect. The suction does not do damage itself; however, if you get pulled into the spinning scythe, you do take damage. So, dash out of it as much as possible and keep sprinting.
  • Scythe Slash: The Titan of Time swings his weapon forward, leaving behind a rift similar to the Rift of Time attack. This explodes after a brief period, so keep some distance between yourself and the rift.
  • Time Stop Barrier: Chronos teleports away, leaving behind a barrier of frozen time. If you get caught, you will be unable to move for the duration of the attack. However, Chronos’ own forces are also stuck in this time stop if caught.
  • Forces of Time: Teleports to the centre of the room and summons multiple smaller enemies to attack Melinoe. Moreover, he can also place down flags that grant protection to enemies.

Second Phase

  • Timely Demise: The entire room will glow red, and a safe spot will appear on one of the numbers on the floor. If you stand anywhere outside of this indicated zone, you will be insta-killed.
  • Running Out of Time: The edge of the arena will start shrinking towards the center. You need to dash over the shrinking edge to avoid taking any damage.
  • Nick of Time: Chronos will create two concentric circles around the arena. Stand in the gap between these two circles; otherwise, you will be caught when both of them explode.
  • Enhanced Sphere Release: Indicated by its name, the Titan of Time now uses projections similar to the hands of a clock around himself.
  • Hands of Time: A hand will glow on the clock like an arena, and shift around, dealing damage. This will even change to both hands if you drop a significant portion of Chronos’ health.
  • Enhanced Time Stop Barrier: Chronos does the same thing as in the first phase, but leaves these barriers all over the arena as well.

Tips and Tricks To Defeat Titan of Time in Hades 2

Here are some tips and tricks that will let you defeat the boss known as Chronos, the Titan of Time, easily in Hades 2:

  • Defeat the minions surrounding Chronos before moving on to the Titan of Time. Many of his minions are elites who can deal significant amounts of damage, so they can be very dangerous if ignored. Furthermore, his minions can heal him in his second phase, making it even more important to get rid of them.
  • When Chronos uses his insta-kill attack at the start of the second phase, you have two options. The safer option is to move to the designated safe spot. However, if you are capable of dealing enough damage, you can use this window to let loose and deal large damage before retreating. If you deal enough damage (half of Chronos’ HP), he will even cancel his insta-kill attack. Do not try this on his subsequent insta-kills.
  • The majority of Chronos’ attacks can be dodged by simply dashing through him to get behind him.
  • Although Chronos is unaffected by slowing down time with the Eternity Arcana card, he can still be slightly slowed by your Cast. You can use this to create windows for your Omega Moves.
