Hades 2: Is There Romance?

Melinoe can engage in romance in Hades 2 with a bunch of characters. You can speak to the many characters you come across in the game, many of whom will reveal interesting tidbits about themselves. However, if you continue engaging with them, they might even become flirtatious. There is a specific way to pursue a romantic relationship here. The following guide will explain what you can do if you want Melinoe to fall in love with one of the NPCs in Hades 2.

How Does Romance in Hades 2 Work?

While the romance system is fairly straightforward in the game, we suggest getting your hands on the Book of Shadows to make things easier. This item provides in-depth information about enemies, locations, and much more. Regarding your romantic pursuits, the Book of Shadows also lists your affinity with the characters you meet. To get this book, you first need to complete the Empath’s Intuition Incantation. You’ll need the following items to complete this incantation:

1x Fate Fabric: Buy this from the Wretched Broker NPC at the Crossroads.
3x Myrtle: Collect them from the Fields of Mourning region.

Keep in mind that the Empath’s Intuition Incantation might not appear for several hours. You might already start handing out gifts to characters by the time you can complete it and obtain the Book of Shadows.

Track Relationship Affinities with Book of Shadows

Once you have the Book of Shadows, you’ll be able to see which characters you can romance in Hades 2. You’ll notice several hearts beside each character’s entry in the book. The first heart will have a gift symbol on it since you get Keepsakes the first time you give a gift (Nectar) to an NPC. You fill each of the subsequent hearts without a symbol by giving additional Nectar to that character. Other hearts will have the following symbols:

Silver bottle symbol: This indicates a heart that you can fill by gifting Bath Salts to an NPC and inviting them to the hot springs with you. You’ll first need to complete the Rite of Vapor Cleansing Incantation to unlock the hot springs location.
Dual fish symbol: You can gain such hearts by going fishing with the NPC after gifting them Twin Lures as a gift. To ensure that this activity is available, complete the Rite of River-Fording Incantation first. This will lead to the construction of the fishing pier.

You can also gift characters Ambrosia for additional affinity with them. But first, complete the Rite of Social Solidarity Incantation, which then opens up the Crossroads Taverna construction.

Romanceable Characters in Hades 2

While the game allows you to interact with all NPCs you encounter and give them gifts, not all of them are romanceable with Melinoe. Some characters have very limited relationships and interactions with the protagonist. The following characters are romanceable:
