Scylla and the Sirens are the second main boss you encounter during your underworld runs in Hades 2. Here’s a guide on how to defeat them.

Scylla and the Sirens in Hades 2 are a group of man-eating sea monsters who lure their prey with melodious songs. In the game, they run a band and sing for their fans in the underworld. The singing aspect of the sirens in mythology is nicely implemented in their boss fight, as you get to enjoy different songs every time you enter their arena.
The battle against Scylla and the Sirens is challenging, but do not expect to win on the first try. When you enter Oceanus for the first time, Eris, Strife Incarnate, bestows on you a “blessing”. It is actually a curse that makes you take 20% more damage from enemies in that run. However, fighting Scylla the Sirens can become much easier in future runs if you have a good set of boons and knowledge about their fighting mechanics.
To help you out, here’s a guide on how to defeat Scylla and the Sirens in Hades 2.
Where To Find Scylla and the Sirens in Hades 2

Scylla and the Sirens in Hades 2 are found at the end of the Oceanus region, which is in Tartarus (underworld). To enter Oceanus, you first have to travel through Erebus and defeat Headmistress Hecate.
When you start from the entrance of Oceanus, there are rooms with multiple paths that you can take. However, all routes lead to the boss room entrance, which is marked by a red skull over the reward icon. Unfortunately, you cannot skip fighting Scylla, as the only entrance to the next region is through their dressing room in the back.
Scylla and the Sirens Moveset in Hades 2
When fighting Scylla and the Sirens, you fight three characters in total in three phases, which include:
- Scylla (Vocalist)
- Jetty (Guitarist)
- Roxy (Drummer)
Each of these enemies has its own attacks and shares the same health pool. However, damaging a character enough times stuns them and makes them invincible. The invincibility of the enemy persists until you transition phases by stunning all three band members. All three phases of this boss fight work differently, and here are all of them explained:
Phase 1

In this first phase of the fight against Scylla and the Sirens, each of the enemies has a different moveset that remains the same in every run. Here are all of them:
Scylla
- Mic Bash: Scylla bashes her mic in front of her if you get too close. There is a distinct guitar riff and a flash before she attacks.
- Scream: Scylla starts screaming while slowly moving towards you. Her screaming creates a red zone in front of her, which damages you if you stand in it.
- Blades: Scylla stays put in one place and summons four ethereal blades that spin around her.
- Melody: Scylla creates purple orbs that home in on Melinoe. Touching the orb significantly slows you down.
- Pufferfish: Scylla throws out a burst of spikey fish in front of her that slowly move outward in an arc.
Jetty
- Jetstream: If you are standing far away from Jetty, she dashes towards you. In addition, she creates an ethereal circle at her final position that expands radially outward.
- Waves: Jetty creates numerous waves that push you away from her.
- Bouncing Orbs: Jetty stays still in one place and creates orbs that skip across the floor in one direction.
Roxy
- Backbeat: Roxy creates multiple casts, like Melinoe, that cover the entire arena like a wave. This attack can either come towards or away from Roxy.
- Rock’n’Roll: Roxy spawns two large zones that force you to either move away or towards her. Standing in the red zone damages you.
Phase 2

After you stun all three members of the band, Scylla and the Sirens transition to Phase 2 and introduce a new mechanic, Featured Artist. At the start of the second phase, any one of the three enemies becomes the Featured Artist, and has their moveset strengthened with additional effects. The member who becomes the Featured Artist is selected at random and can change with every run. That said, here are the additional effects:
- Scylla: She can shoot out multiple Melody orbs and has increased range for her Scream attack. Her blades become longer and shoot out Pufferfish at the same time.
- Jetty: Becoming a Featured Artist increases her dash speed and creates multiple radials instead of one.
- Roxy: Roxy now has more variations of cast attacks that make moving around her much more difficult than before.
Phase 3

When you defeat all the band members in Phase 2, Scylla makes one final stand by calling reinforcements. She stays stuck in one position while numerous Pinhead fishes spawn from all around the arena. This school of fishes keep spawning till you bring Scylla’s health down to zero, which ends the fight.

How To Defeat Scylla and the Sirens in Hades 2

Scylla and the Sirens are a challenging trio of enemies if you are not good at keeping track of attacks on the field. To make the fight easier, focus on positioning yourself between all the attacks while dealing damage to whichever band member is near you. For your boons, something that enhances your basic attack can be beneficial during the fight.
Best Boons To Defeat Scylla and the Sirens

Here are all the boons that you should that are best to have during this fight:
God | Boon | Effect |
---|---|---|
Aphrodite | Heartbreak Strike | Your basic attack deals more damage and inflicts Weak on enemies. |
Zeus | Storm Ring | Your Cast creates bolts of lightning that strike enemies bound in the circle. |
Apollo | Nova Flourish | Your Special attack deals more damage and has a higher range. |
Hermes | Nitro Boost | Your sprint speed is increased by 15%. Additionally, you gain a shield that ignores one instance of damage. |
Apollo | Lucid Gain | You regain Magick every time your Cast expires. |
As mentioned earlier, you need something like Aphrodite’s Heartbreak Strike to increase your basic attack damage. The reason for doing so is that you won’t get time to stand in one place and keep attacking the enemies without taking damage. The extra damage you can inflict during the brief windows of opportunity can significantly help you finish the fight a bit quicker.
Combine this with Zeus’s Storm Ring to easily deal damage to enemies like Scylla or Roxy, who most of the time don’t move or stay stuck in one place. Nova Flourish and Lucid Gain allow you to deal damage from distance with Special attacks, while Nitro Boost gives a nice speed boost to your dash.
Tips and Tricks To Defeat Scylla and the Sirens in Hades 2

Having promising boons alone won’t help you win fights every time. You have to learn some tips and tricks to defeat Scylla and the Sirens consistently in every run. Here are some:
- When any of the first two phases start, focus on one member and try to knock them down. This makes the enemy attacks much easier to manage.
- It is recommended to take down Roxy first, as she can do many AoE (Area of Effect) attacks.
- You can position yourself near a wall while Jetty charges up her Jetstream attack. This causes her to get stunned for a second and stops her from creating the additional effect.
- Always play away from Scylla in the first two phases. Most of her moveset consists of close-ranged attacks.
- During Phase 2, try to focus on the Featured Artist to defeat them first. Doing so can save you from taking a lot of damage.
- You cannot hit Scylla from the back due to her having a shell. You have to charge at her from the front.
- In the last phase, create a Cast around yourself to stop the fishes from damaging you. Focus on Scylla with all your highest damaging attacks.
