In this article, we will learn how to unlock companions in Hades 2 from Supergiant Games, which are Animal Familiars.
In Hades 2, you can unlock Animal Familiars as companions. These Familiars assist Melinoe both in and out of battle in the form of passive buffs. However, you can only bring one at a time each night. So in this article, we will look at how you can unlock these companions.
How to Unlock Companions in Hades 2?
The first step to unlock all Animal Familiars is to use the Incantation “Faith of Familiar Spirits.” In order to do this, you need to do the following things (not in any particular order):
- Defeat Hecate 5 times
- Gather with Crescent Pick and Silver Spade 2 times each
- Gather 1 time with the Tablet of Peace
The recipe for the Incantation needs 1 Lotus and 2 Nectar. After this, you can start befriending companions by meeting them.
1) Frinos, the Toad
The first Animal Familiar is Frinos. He’s a toad who supports Melinoë after her adventures at night in the Crossroads.
2) Toula, the Cat
Toula is the second one you can unlock. She’s a cat living at the docks between the City of Ephyra and the Rift of Thessaly who starts appearing after the following conditions are met:
- Visit the aforementioned docks multiple times.
- Use the Rod of Fishing to catch a fish successfully at least once.
3) Raki, the Raven
Raki, a white raven in the fountain room in the Erebus, is the third Animal Familiar. He appears after doing this:
- Go to the fountain room in the Erebus one time.
4) Hecuba, the Hound
Hecuba is a black hound who is one of Hecate’s companions. She stands at guard at the gates in Echo’s room within the Fields of Mourning, appearing around 75% of the time each night. However, you cannot recruit her until you unlock the Bravery of Familiar Spirits Incantation and use 3 Witch’s Delight to upgrade Animal Familiar abilities.
Once you do that, you recruit her by doing the following:
- Recruit all the previous companions.
- Use Frinos’ and Raki’s abilities once.
- Spend 4 Witch’s Delight to upgrade Animal Familiar abilities.
- Talk to Hecate after this where she will give you permission to recruit Hecuba.
5) Gale, the Polecat
The final Animal Familiar is Gale, a polecat who is another companion to Hecate. Before facing Prometheus in Charon’s Shop within Mount Olympus, he can be found. Just like Hecuba, she cannot be recruited until you unlock the Bravery of Familiar Spirits Incantation and use 3 Witch’s Delight to upgrade Animal Familiar abilities.
To finally recruit Gale, these are the steps:
- Recruit three Animal Familiars.
- Use Frinos’ and Raki’s abilities once.
- Spend 4 Witch’s Delight to upgrade Animal Familiar abilities.
- Talk to Hecate after this where she will give you permission to recruit Gale.
