Soot is a rare resource in Hades 2 and a main quest item, available only after the game ends. Here’s how you can get Soot.
Hades 2’s 1.0 update awakens Hypnos from his slumber with the help of an item called Soot. Being directly tied to the House of Hades, you’ll obtain this item after finishing the game. Soot is directly connected to the game’s longer and intricate quest lines, Hypnos’ Slumber. This lengthy quest requires Soot as its main requirement. Here’s how you can get Soot in Hades 2.
How To Get Soot
You will receive Soot after finishing the game and finding Hades in the post-game area. Talking with Hades will automatically drop the Soot in your inventory. After entering the credits, you can enter the epilogue of the game, where certain NPCs are located. Hades and Persephone, finally free from the grasp of Time, can be talked to. Immediately after the dialogue with Hades ends, Melinoe will receive 1x Soot in her inventory. After the game ends, you can acquire more Soot as encounter rewards. Just be on the lookout for the Soot icon during runs.
The Soot in your inventory did not exist until the release of the 1.0 update, marking the full release of Hades 2, as well as its endings. Acquiring the first 2 can be done while playing, but Soot will have to be collected from Hades himself. This incantation will create stronger Dream Vapors that will wake up Hypnos, leading to an achievement and a funny interaction.
