Typhon is the final boss of Hades 2 if you head to the surface. You will find him at the peak of Mount Olympus. However, to reach this, you must defeat Polyphemus, Eris, and Prometheus before him. After that, you can head to the top of the mountain and challenge Typhon with some assistance from the Olympians.

First Phase

  • Tusk Slam: Typhon raises his head a bit while his tusks glow red. He then proceeds to slam it all into the platform Melinoe is standing on.
  • Laser Tongue: The Father of All Monsters shoots out a laser from his tongue, which sweeps across the whole arena.
  • Exploding Eyeballs: Typhon shoots out a projectile from his eye. Upon impact it splits up into many smaller volatile items, which explode.
  • Breath: Typhon’s powerful breath is strong enough to create tornadoes, which can push Melinoe around. It will push you either left or right.

After you have depleted a set amount of health, the next phase will start.

Second Phase

Typhon disappears into the dark storm gathered near the peak. You cannot hurt him during this phase. Moreover, he will leave behind monster eggs on the field. Break these quick before they spawn a lot of monsters and overwhelm you. Once the monsters are dead, the next phase will start.

There are no unusual attacks or changes for this phase. Once you have depleted enough health, the phase will end.

Third Phase

Zeus will show up at the start of this phase. He will strike Typhon with bolts of lightning, causing him to collapse momentarily. This will leave him open to attacks for a brief period. This is your time to go all in on offense.

If you are unable to deal enough damage, he will wake up and resume his attacks from the first phase. Eventually, you will force the last phase of the fight.

Fourth Phase

He will once again cloak himself in the dark storm while leaving eggs on the battlefield. Break them before the new enemies spawn in. Moreover, in this phase, all of Typhon’s original attacks deal double damage. Apart from that, he has some new moves and older ones that are enhanced as well.

  • Blade Whip: Tentacle-like protrusions pop up from the ground (three at a time) and spin in a radius, dealing damage if you get caught in the center. They spin and disappear back into the ground. These start from the bottom of the arena and make their way to the top.
  • Desperate Tusk Slam: Faster than before and hits twice as hard.
  • Desperate Laser Tongue: Swipes it twice instead of once.
  • Desperate Exploding Eyeballs: Increased number of projectiles.

You should get quick bursts of damage in your build for two reasons. Typhon repeatedly makes Melinoe move (Tusk Slam or Blade Whip). The projectiles for Typhon aren’t a big issue most of the time. Instead, you will want to memorize the tells for his melee attacks. Moreover, try to time the Blade Whip attacks during the last phase. You can get by with attacking and only dodging at the last minute.

Best Boons To Defeat Typhon

You should use Boons, which work well against the Typhon boss fight:

God/GoddessBoon/HexEffect
AthenaDivine DashYour Dash deals damage to foes in your path and can momentarily Deflect
AphroditeGlamour GainYou automatically inflict Weak on nearby foes and gradually restore Magick near them.
DemeterFrosty VeneerWhile you have at least 6 water boons, whenever you would take at least 20 damage, you take less.
SelenePhase ShiftYour Hex makes everything else move 50% slower for four seconds.
AthenaDefensive PostureAfter you take damage, you become Impervious for two seconds.
PoseidonWater FitnessGain Max Health for each Water Boon you have.

Both Poseidon’s and Demeter’s above boons together can increase your chances of survival many times over. The only caveat is you getting a number of Water Boons.

Tips and Tricks To Defeat Typhon in Hades 2

Here are some tips to make the fight easier:

  • Memorize Typhon’s attack patterns. He only has four or five notable attacks, which could give you trouble.
  • During the phase changes where eggs spawn monsters, you should prioritize breaking a few eggs before they hatch. This will result in fewer monsters to fight once they all hatch.
  • Phase Shift can be used in any part of the boss fight, whether there are only minions or the big bad himself. It is universally useful.
  • Lastly, the Strength Arcana might be better than the Death Arcana in the long run.
  • Do not let the eggs remain on the field for long.

Prometheus gives you the following after being defeated:

Typhon is like Chronos, but for the surface. The run is successful if you are able to defeat this boss.
