Learn how to use Alakazam in the Pokemon Legends Z-A competitive scene with information about its moveset and nature.

Alakazam is a Psychic-type Pokemon first introduced in Generation 1. This Pokemon has been a major representative of the Psychic-type, even as the typing slowly got worse with each passing Generation. Alakazam was able to utilize its good Speed and Special Attack stats to make up for its shortcomings and remain decent competitively. It even received a Mega Evolution in Generation VI, which boosted those two key stats, letting it remain viable. So, let’s see how Alakazam performs in the Legends Z-A competitive meta.
Best Alakazam Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A

These are the moves you want to use on your Alakazam if you plan on using it in battle.
- Nasty Plot
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
Mega Alakazam not having its Ability Trace in Legends Z-A does not matter, as Trace copies other Abilities. After Mega Evolving, Alakazam vaporizes its opponents thanks to its 175 Special Attack stat, which is tied with Mega Chandelure for the third highest in the game (Mega Zygarde and Mega Mewtwo Y being first and second, respectively). It is extremely frail, especially on the physical side, so there is a high likelihood of it fainting if an opponent manages to survive one of its moves.
Alakazam learned Nasty Plot for the first time in Generation VIII and now can use it alongside its Mega to give its Special Attack a +2 boost. Teach it with TM083, which Mable gives you for completing level 38 of her research. Psychic is the spammable STAB learnt at level 35. Focus Blast and Shadow Ball are coverage against Dark, Steel, and Ghost-types. The former is TM102, another Mable reward at level 44, while the latter is TM074, found in Vert Sector 6.
Buy the Alakazite from Quasartico Inc. for 360 Mega Shards.
Best Alakazam Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Go with a Modest (+SpA, -Atk) nature. This will make Alakazam hit even harder. You can get either a Modest Mint from a vendor in Rouge Sector 1.
