Dragon Age: The Veilguard has a plethora of choices that you will have to make as you play the game. These greatly impact how the story turns out. The very first choice that you make in this game is in the intro mission called “The End of The Beginning”, and you will need to choose between two characters to bring with you in the mission — Neve and Harding.
However, this choice has no major impact on the overall flow of the game. The outcome will be the same, although your choice will have some interactive changes. This article will elucidate whether you should choose Neve or Harding to stop Solas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Exploring The Choice between Neve and Harding in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
You will get the option to choose between Neve and Harding during the very first introductory quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. During “The End of The Beginning” quest, you will have to take one of these two characters along with you in an attempt to stop Solas’s Ritual.
As mentioned earlier, no matter what you choose, the story outcome remains unchanged. In any case, the ritual will be interrupted and your group will be taken to The Lighthouse. It will, however, affect the immediate cutscene. Moreover, it will also affect which of these two characters you will take on your subsequent quest, In Entropy’s Grasp.
What Happens if You Choose Neve in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
If you choose Neve during this quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this character will be injured and cannot accompany you in the next quest. Instead, Harding will be the only choice for Rook in the quest “In Entropy’s Grasp.”
Furthermore, Neve will also get a scar around the right eye. This will be evident in the cutscenes that will follow in the game. As you progress, this scar will reduce in size but some of it will remain throughout.
What Happens if You Choose Harding in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
If you choose to bring Harding with you to stop Solas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this character will be injured and unavailable for the next quest. Here, Neve will accompany Rook in “In Entropy’s Grasp.”
In this choice, Harding will get a scar around the right eye instead. You will be able to see this in the next few cutscenes, although it will reduce in size as you progress in the story.
Whom Should You Choose Between Neve And Harding in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
The choice between Neve and Harding in Dragon Age: The Veilguard boils down to whether you want a Mage or Rogue by your side in the subsequent quest “In Entropy’s Grasp.” Neve is a Mage, and Harding is a Rogue in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Your build on Rook might determine whom you should choose between these two characters.
If your build on Rook is a Mage, and you have access to magic yourself, you should choose Neve for the introductory quest. This way, Harding, a Rogue, is free to take with you during the next quest. If you do not have access to magic yourself, it might be better to take Harding during the intro quest. This will let you take advantage of Neve’s magic during “In Entropy’s Grasp.”
