Saboteur is a Rogue Specialization in Dragon Age Veilguard. Discover key features of Saboteur Specialization, how to unlock it, and its skills.
Build in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is consistent with the faction, race, class, Specialization, skills, and companions you bring on your adventure. Each choice, from character creation to equipment, is impactful, and a wrong decision at the start can limit your combat performance. Companions are Non-Playable Characters (NPCs) that travel with the player’s controllable character and offer aid in combat and exploration. Seven companions: two warriors, two rogues, and three mages can be recruited in the game.
Class, faction, and race are crucial decisions that must be made wisely. Tune your builds for specific roles based on their chosen class and then further with their Specialization. During your gameplay, you are most likely to encounter companions and take quick steps that directly or indirectly affect the world around you. Saboteur is one of the skill Specializations that can modify your class to a particular playstyle and can be unlocked after reaching a specific level that we will discuss in this Specialization Guide.
What is Saboteur Specialization for Rouge Class?
Saboteur Specialization, located in the Northeast of the skill tree, focuses on using tricks and contraptions, such as turrets, to defeat enemies. It is between Sustain and Control that lends Credence. A true swashbuckler, the Lords of Fortune Saboteur specializes in using explosives and other gadgets to weaken enemies, control the battlefield, and handle the most critical situations.
While this can be effective in choke points, it’s an odd playstyle that is geared towards slow and methodic combat and remains unenjoyable. Turrets are super valuable because you can sort of set and forget them like you can place them down and sprinkle enemies where you can follow up with melee and ranged attacks. Combine it with skills like Explosive Trap to plant your own traps in the game or with Pilfer which allows you to get those potions back and apply the bleeding effect.
The saboteur expects enemies to walk into pitfalls for damage. Fortune’s Fury is the ultimate ability of this Specialization and is the first in line. It’s a fairly unique ultimate in that you equip a weapon and just start blasting in the third person. You’re able to adjust the aim and it does physical splash damage. At the end, you toss the weapon and it explodes for additional damage. Further along the line is Fortune’s Turret (Ability). It’s a duration tool-type ability that has a 60-second cooldown. You place down a mechanized turret that targets the closest enemy and pepper them with projectiles for physical damage. It will explode when ammo runs out which is likely to disrupt enemies within range of blast.

Saboteur and Rogue Skill Tree Explained
Skill Trees can be customized and allow you to modify the builds within each Class and Specialization. Class Rogue Core is the main origin of the Skill Tree in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The Skill Tree is enhanced when you earn skill points and level up. The Skill Tree has three sections.
- Core Class Tree
- Sub-Class/Specialization Tree
- Ultimate Ability
The Core Class Tree involves your traits and base class skills and it is in the center hexagon. The Sub-Class/Specialization Tree is the outer hexagons that consist of skills exclusive to your Specialization. Lastly, the Ultimate Ability is the strongest skill and is unique to each Specialization and is located in the Specialization tree.
For each level, you gain one skill point. You can access the bigger section of the tree at the endgame. Each node in the game represents multiple abilities or passives.
- Diamond Nodes
- Hexagonal Nodes
- Circular Nodes
Diamond Nodes shows Active Abilities and you can equip 3 of them at once. Get passive abilities and major upgrades through Traits that are represented by Hexagonal Nodes. The Circular Nodes grant stat boosts and small Passive bonuses.
Weapon Proficiencies, Ultimates, them, and Class Core Abilities are unlocked at the initial stages of the game. Expand these basic skills for your class by selecting your nodes in the skill tree. Move to the northeast of the Core Skills to get this Specialization. Sustain and Burst are the two nearest skill clusters that you can unlock by unlocking most of your nodes here.
