There are many types of customization in Sea of Thieves, such as ship skins, character costumes, vanity items, and more. Curses are a type of cosmetic that comes under vanity items in Sea of Thieves. These are purely cosmetic and do not change your in-game stats. Some curses are obtained by clearing Tall Tales objectives, while some are acquired by completing a set of missions.

9) Creeping Stone Curse

Creeping Stone Curse was introduced in Season 12 of Sea of Thieves and can be acquired from the Plunder Pass. This curse slowly turns the pirate into stone, and the transformation does not look pleasing to one’s eye. In order to unlock this curse, players have to reach Level 20 Renown in the Plunder Pass. There’s another variant of this curse, known as the Solid Stone Curse, which turns the pirate into stone instantly.

8) Shores of Gold Curse

This is one of the hardest curses in Sea of Thieves to unlock. You need to earn 64 commendations from all quests in the game, and the look is not that great. Moreover, you might have to complete some quests more than once just to get this curse. It adds patches of gold all over the pirate’s body. The amount of hard work does not reciprocate the reward you should get.

Storm Strike Curse was introduced to the game with the Stormfish Chaser set. This curse can be purchased directly from Pirate Emporium for 499 Ancient Coins. Some players do not like this curse because it can be bought from the shop and does not require any grinding. However, Storm Strike Curse has a very underwhelming look, which feels very incomplete sometimes.

The Curse of the Order feels very creepy and cool at the same time. Complete The Cursed Rogue quest and earn all commendations to receive the Fateful Memories commendations to get this curse. This curse turns the pirate’s eyes black, and black ink starts running down from the eyes. Players only have to complete one quest to earn this curse.

5) Legendary Curse

Become the Pirate Legend to acquire the Legendary Curse. This curse makes the pirate’s eye glow gold with a skull patch on the chest. It might feel very simple for the first time, but this curse lets the players show off their achievement of becoming the Pirate Legend.

4) Ashen Curse

The Ashen Curse was added with the Heart of Fire quest. In order to unlock the Ashen Curse, you have to earn all commendations of this quest. Ashen Curse turns the pirate’s eyes orange, and a lot of flame scars cover the whole body, giving a fierce look to the wearer.

3) Ghostly Curse

This is a faction-special curse, which was introduced in Season 8 of Sea of Thieves. You have to be a part of the Guardians of Fortune faction and reach allegiance level 100. After reaching level 100, you can get the Blessing of Athena’s Fortune, which will turn you into a ghost. The Ghostly Curse transforms the whole body into a ghost that looks very cool.

2) Curse of Sunken Sorrow

This is a curse that adds purple patches to the body while making the eyes bright blue. Curse of Sunken Sorrow adds a piece of ocean to a pirate’s body, which makes it very special. It is earned by completing the Curse of the Sunken Kingdom commendation. Moreover, to complete this commendation, players have to read all 30 journals as part of the underwater Shrines and Treasures. After that, players have to complete the Sunken Kingdom voyage to get this curse. This process of earning this curse might be a bit longer, but the cool and sublime look it provides is one of the best.

1) Skeleton Curse

As the name implies, Skeleton Curse turns a pirate into a skeleton. This curse is acquired by reaching level 100 allegiance with the Servants of the Flame faction. Additionally, players have to reach level 75 with Reaper’s Bones. After completing these tasks, players get access to Reaper’s secret lair, where they get the curse by completing the Ritual of the Flame. The curse transforms a pirate’s whole body into a skeleton. Moreover, players can customize their appearance to equip a look they desire.
