Solo Leveling, is popularly categorized as an anime, but it is a “webtoon.” The show is based on the manhua (Korean comic) Na Honjaman Rebeleop by Chugong. Animation studio A-1 Pictures brought the digital comic to life in partnership with anime streaming site Crunchyroll in 2024. The story revolves around human warriors who possess supernatural abilities fighting monsters to prevent humanity’s impending annihilation.
IShowSpeed is a vocal anime fan, and even his YouTube channel’s icon features a One Piece logo. The streamer enjoys the art form, with his bedroom featuring anime-inspired items and furniture. His opinions about Solo Leveling divided his community, and fans weighed in with their thoughts.

Frieren is a popular pick, and it is also the highest-rated anime (9.31) on the popular anime website MyAnimeList. It is the first show to eclipse Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’s rating in 13 years. While a lot of internet users picked Frieren over Solo Leveling, many IShowSpeed fans agreed with his take. One Piece studio Toei Animation gave IShowSpeed rights to stream the anime on YouTube earlier this year. Speed once talked about how One Piece allegedly helped him get through depression during the quarantine era in 2020. The streamer will share his love for anime with his fans later this year with his official One Piece broadcasts.
