Discover all of the possible Sussur Weapons, how to craft them, the materials you need, and more in this Baldur’s Gate 3 guide.

Deep within the Underdark lies a rare and mysterious material known as Sussur, capable of silencing magic itself. In Baldur’s Gate 3, Sussur weapons are prized not only for their sleek, arcane-resistant design but also for their unique ability to suppress spellcasting—making them deadly tools against magic-wielding foes. In this guide, we’ll break down all the possible Sussur weapons, how to get them, the Sussur Tree Bark material, and more in Baldur’s Gate 3.
What Are All the Sussur Weapons in BG3
The Sussur Weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3 are part of a side quest in Act 1 called Finish the Masterwork Weapon, which you can use to create one of three possible weapons. The three Sussur weapon options are:
- Sussur Dagger
- Sussur Greatsword
- Sussur Sickle
To craft a sussur weapon you will need to follow the steps of the quest to obtain a special crafting material called Sussur Bark. Furthermore, all three of these weapons will have the same special passive bonus applied to them. Consequently, the wielder of a Sussur weapon in BG3 gains the chance to Silence the target on hit if it fails a 12 DC Constitution saving throw.
How to Get the Sussur Weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3

First, to get the Sussur weapon in BG3 you must go inside the forge in the Blighted Village, and disarm a wooden chest to find Highcliff’s Blueprints. The Blighted Village can be found to the west of the Emerald Grove across a bridge. Be careful when approaching through the main gate because you will be ambushed by goblins. Significantly, you may find it easier to go around to the south entrance, which is only guarded by two goblins.
Once you’re inside the Blighted Village, head to the two-story building north of the waypoint. On the southside of the building, you should see some Shabby Doors. They are locked, but you will only have to pass a 10 DC Sleight of Hand check to open them.
Next, head north into the back of the forge. You should see a wooden chest on the ground off to the right. You’ll need to disarm this chest before you can safely loot the items inside. It has the same 10 DC Sleight of Hand check.
Finally, after you loot Highcliff’s Blueprints, make sure to go into your inventory to read them! This will begin the side quest Finish the Masterwork Weapon. Furthermore, the instructions in Highcliff’s Blueprints specify a special ingredient you’ll need: Sussur Bark.
How to Find Sussur Tree Bark in BG3

To find the Sussur Tree Bark in Baldur’s Gate 3 you need to reach the underdark where you can discover the Sussur Tree. You can reach the Underdark by breaking down the Cracked Wall in the Forge. Additionally, you could also go down the Well at the center of the Blighted Village. The Well will take you into the Whispering Depths, where you will face the Phase Spider Matriarch.
Then, after defeating her cast the Feather Fall spell on yourself and your party. If you have not learned the spell, you can use a scroll or potion. Next, jump into the glowing chasm where you faced the spider. You should land safely in the Underdark.
You will land on the eastern side of the Underdark map, and to find the Sussur Tree you will need to go all the way west. The Sussur tree is huge, with limbs you can climb up on and walk across. Find a way up and walk over towards the center trunk of the tree. Then, use your cursor to highlight the section of Sussur Tree Bark that you can take.

Sussur Weapons Tier List for BG3

The best Sussur weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3 can be difficult to choose, but we recommend selecting the Sussur Dagger. This can change, depending on the builds you have in your party and other weapons you have collected, however.
Here is our ranking for the best Sussur Weapon in BG3:
- Sussur Dagger
- Sussur Greatsword
- Sussur Sickle
For example, the Sussar Greatsword is a descent two-handed weapon. But if you’ve collected the Everburn Blade in the prologue, or are planning on getting the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane in Act 1, then the Sussur Greatsword is quickly outclassed.
The Sussur Dagger is ideal for a dual-wielding Rogue, who can equip it in their off-hand. You probably will find a stronger weapon for your main hand, like the Club of Hill Giant Strength. But the Sussur Dagger can come in handy against ranged spellcasters, and you can use an off-hand attack to attempt to Silence them.
Finally, keep in mind that despite how the tooltip reads, the weapon does not guarantee the Silence condition on all hits. For Silence to be successful, your target must fail a 12 DC Constitution saving throw. Additionally, the Sussur Dagger has a bug that can cause it to disappear or fall through floors when thrown. Therefore, be cautious about making this weapon a critical part of a Throw Build.
