The upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 is estimated to be around 40 GB in size for PC. As for consoles like the PS5 and Xbox, the file size could be lower. Make sure you have enough storage before downloading the update. This prevents issues or prolongs the duration of downloading the update.

Things to Keep in Mind Before Downloading Baldur’s Gate Patch 8
If you are playing on PC via Steam, here are a few things to keep in mind before downloading the new update:
Removal of Older Patch Updates
Keep in mind that on top of the arrival of Patch 8, some of the downloadable patches will also be removed. According to the developers, only Patch 6 and 7 will remain downloadable alongside Patch 8. The rest will be removed and no longer accessible. If you are downloading the latest version of the game, this won’t be a problem for you.
Switch From Beta to Main Game
If you played the Beta or stress tests of Baldur’s Gate 3 to check out the new content before it’s officially released, you need to do the following:
- Log in to Steam.
- Right-click Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Select the properties option.
- Head to the Betas tab.
- Change the selected item from the drop-down from Beta to None.
Once you do this, you should be able to download the latest Patch 8 once it goes live on April 15, 2025. Keep in mind that your saved games from stress tests may not work once you play in the updated version of the game. You might need to create a new save file and start from scratch to experience Patch 8.
