Each companion will have a unique skill tree and abilities, and some can be used to make combo attacks with other party members. Moreover, each companion also has one center node called the Veilguard Skill. How to Unlock Bellara’s Veilguard Skill in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
To unlock Bellara’s Veilguard skill in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will need to progress her companion storyline and complete the Through the Shadows quest. After the final fight, return to the Lighthouse to speak to Bellara. Here you will need to make a choice, which will unlock one of two possible Veilguard skills for Bellara.
Moreover, there is no way to unlock both of the Veilguard skills for Bellara in a single playthrough. Consequently, to experience both you will need to play a second time through or create a separate save file. Additionally, this choice will also unlock a special legendary armor for Bellara. Moreover, the traits on each armor are different and can affect your Bellara build.
Finally, the choice you will be making for Bellara is whether to free or keep the Archive. The rewards will be granted after you finish the conversation, and you will receive the armor and unlock the skill automatically.

- Description: Bellara’s weapon attacks chain lightning against Shocked enemies, dealing 100 Electric damage. The effect of Shocked is 10% stronger.
If you choose to free the Archives so the elves can start anew, then you will unlock the Chain Lightning Veilguard skill for Bellara. This skill will unlock automatically for you and does not require you to spend a skill point.
The Chain Lightning passives are all intended to make Bellara a stronger damage dealer. The first trait gives Bellara’s weapon attacks the ability to chain lightning between Shocked enemies for an additional 100 Electric damage. The second trait boosts that effect even more by making the Shocked status effect 10% stronger.
The Chain Lightning skill is aptly named, causing additional Electric damage to enemies already Shocked. All of Bellara’s damage-dealing abilities use Electric damage, so if she’s already fired off one or two abilities then her basic weapon attacks should hit Shocked enemies harder. Fade Bolts would be particularly useful because it not only fires off multiple projectiles, but automatically applies Shocked on impact.
Bellara Free the Archive Legendary Armor
All features and mechanics of Bellara’s Free the Archive Legendary Armor:
- Name: Reborn Leathers
- Weight: Medium
- Rarity: Legendary
- Companion only: Bellara
- Traits:
- Detonations apply Shocked to all affected enemies.
- Detonations deal and additional 200 Electric damage.
The Reborn Leathers legendary armor has bonuses that boost Bellara’s ability to apply Shocked and deal Electric damage. The first trait causes her detonations to automatically apply the Shocked condition to all affected enemies. Moreover, the second trait also allows her detonations to deal and additional 200 Electric damage.
The combination of the Reborn Leathers legendary armor and the Chain Lightning passives can make Bellara a strong electricity-based damage dealer. If your own Rook is using a build with their own electricity-based abilities then this could potentially make the effects of her damage even stronger. If Rook can apply the shocked condition to additional enemies, then the Chain Lightning effect would spread even further.
Bellara Keep the Archive Veilguard Skill
Features and mechanics of Bellara’s Keep the Archive Veilguard Skill:
- Name: Lingering Strike
- Description: Bellara’s Replenish Ability now applies Weakened in a 6-meter radius around you. Whenever Bellara applies Weakened, it also deals 200 Electric damage and renders the target Shocked.
If you choose to keep the Archives so the elves can regain their history, then you will unlock the Lingering Strike Veilguard skill for Bellara. Like all other Veilguard skills, this one will unlock automatically for you and does not require you to spend a skill point.
The Lingering Strike passive is an interesting way to give Bellara some flexibility with her primer ability. The first trait now allows Bellara’s Replenish ability to apply the Weakened condition in a 6-meter radius around Rook. Then, the second trait builds on that, where the application of Weakened also deals 200 Electric damage and renders the target Shocked.
Therefore, it would now be possible to switch out Bellara’s Enfeebling Shot (which is her normal Weakened primer skill) for Replenish. This would allow you to use her as a healer who can apply Weakened, while still keeping Fade Bolts and Time Slow on her bar. Fade Bolts gives you the ability to detonate Sundered and Time Slow is a hugely useful crowd control that you ideally want to slot on any mage companion.
Bellara Keep the Archive Legendary Armor
All features and mechanics of Bellara’s Keep the Archive Legendary Armor:
- Name: Archivist’s Mail
- Weight: Medium
- Rarity: Legendary
- Companion only: Bellara
- Traits:
- Detonating a Sundered enemy Detonates another nearby Sundered enemy (30-second cooldown).
- Enemies near the second Detonation become vulnerable to Electric damage.
The Archivist’s Mail legendary armor has bonuses that boost her Sundered detonation ability. The first trait states that detonating a Sundered enemy also detonates another nearby Sundered enemy. Furthermore, the second trait builds off of this, and enemies near the second detonation will subsequently become Vulnerable to Electric damage.
Therefore, the combination of the Archivist’s Mail legendary armor and the Lingering Strike skill gives Bellara a damage boost. This could potentially be extra effective if Rook is also using electric abilities or weapons. If Bellara has used the Fade Bolts skill to detonate Sundered, possibly causing surrounding enemies to become Vulnerable, then both she and Rook could follow up with Electric damage to quickly take down those additional enemies.
