Conjuration is one of the most overpowered schools of magic in Oblivion Remastered, especially if you are playing on Expert or Master difficulty. This is because enemy health and damage are multiplied at higher difficulties, effectively making every target a spongy pain to deal with. However, these inflated stats exist solely for the player, meaning the summons called upon with Conjuration spells fight on even ground with enemies.

Specializing in Conjuration and leveling it up quickly will give you access to powerful summons, which can shred through targets and act as frontliners. While you can add a specialization in Conjuration with any playstyle, this article focuses on a Conjuration-based Mage build.

Conjuration Mage Early Game Build in Oblivion Remastered

Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered Breton - Systres origin (high magicka, low mobility and endurance)

  • Class: Mage
  • Race: Breton
    • Systres Origin
  • Birthsign: The Mage
  • Major Attributes: Intelligence, Willpower, Endurance
  • Major Skills: Destruction, Conjuration, and Illusion

These selections are made during character creation and maximize the Magicka available to your character without taking on permanent weaknesses like a High Elf’s vulnerability to magic or the Atronach birthsign’s Stunted Magicka. Here are some early-game spells you will have access to in the tutorial and soon after it:

  • Summon Skeleton
  • Turn Undead
  • Flash Bolt
  • Lightning Bolt
  • Weakness to Fire
  • Weakness to Shock
  • Debilitate (Journeyman)

Summon Skeleton is the only Conjuration spell you need in the early game until you reach Journeyman rank and can unlock Summon Flame Atronach and Summon Dremora. To buy Conjuration spells, level the skill sufficiently, head to the Chorrol Mages Guild, and speak with Alberic Litte and Athragar. These vendors sell the most Conjuration spells in the game.

When it comes to weaponry, you can use a dagger in close quarters and a staff to continue casting spells even when Magicka is low.

With your Conjuration reaching Expert rank, some truly powerful summons can be called onto the battlefield. At this point, your Willpower and Intelligence should be levelled up enough to keep one summon on the frontline at all times. Whenever the summon’s duration runs out or it dies, recast the spell.

Continue using summons in conjunction with weakness and damage-dealing Destruction spells to dish out devastating magical damage. Here are the best Conjuration spells to have at the Expert and Master Conjuration ranks:

  • Skeleton Hero (Expert)
  • Summon Daedroth (Expert)
  • Frost Atronach (Expert)
  • Gloom Wraith (Master)
  • Summon Storm Atronach (Master)
  • Summon Dremora Lord (Master)
