Boost your magicka in Oblivion Remastered by increasing Intelligence, using Fortify effects, and equipping powerful enchanted gear.

Magicka flows through the very essence of the world in Oblivion Remastered and is channeled by practitioners of magecraft to cast spells and create enchantments. Although there are several ways to restore and regenerate magicka, having a higher capacity is required to cast Greater spells, which can use up as much as 500 magicka. A large magicka reserve is pivotal for a magic-focused class, especially during intense and prolonged engagements.
How To Increase Magicka in Oblivion Remastered

Magicka can be increased in one of two main ways. The first is to increase the Intelligence attribute, which adds to total magicka capacity. The second is by using Fortify Magicka, either through a spell or an enchantment. Let’s take a closer look at both and understand how to put them to use.
Increase Intelligence Attribute
Magicka scales directly off Intelligence. For every attribute point you spend on Intelligence, magicka increases by 2. So your total magicka is:
- Magicka = (Intelligence x 2) + Bonuses
Some bonuses to magicka can be obtained during character creation by choosing the appropriate birthsign and race. Birthsigns provide bonuses that have the most impact in the early game. Magicka-related birthsigns include:
- The Mage: Provides a flat +50 to magicka capacity.
- The Atronach: Adds +150 to magicka capacity and 50% Spell Absorption but disables magicka regeneration with Stunted Magicka.
- The Apprentice: Increases magicka by +100 but makes the character weak to magicka.
The disadvantages associated with the Apprentice and Atronach make the Mage the best birthsign for newer players looking for a magicka reserve boost. When it comes to races, the following provide bonuses:
- Breton: +50 magicka
- High Elf: +100 magicka
If you are trying to maximize magicka for a build, choosing High Elf will be your best bet. The vampirism condition also gives a boost to total magicka. However, most of your magicka increase will come from frequently spending attribute points on Intelligence, using Fortify Magicka, and donning enchanted equipment.
Understand Fortify Magicka and Fortify Intelligence
Fortify Intelligence and Fortify Magicka are effects that increase magicka by a given amount, usually temporarily. Using Fortify Magicka increases total magicka directly, while every point of Fortify Intelligence increases total magicka by two points. The effects can be applied with spells, enchanted equipment, and potions. Spells and potions are the most effective for drastic increases in magicka, albeit for a limited time. For passive buffs to magicka, wear enchanted equipment.
Enchanted Equipment
You can enchant all five pieces of armor, clothes, two rings, a shield, and an amulet with Fortify Magicka to increase magicka. The best items for magicka increase are:
- Necromancer’s Amulet: +130 magicka
- Birthright of Astalon: +50 magicka
- Ring of Perfection: +10 all attributes
However, do not enchant weapons with Fortify Magicka, as they will inflict the effect on any target they hit, increasing its magicka reserve instead of yours.
