When traversing through the world or doing any activity such as exploring or building, the pickaxe is the most utilized piece of equipment of any player. A normal pickaxe is great, but it can be made much better with some enchantments enhancing it. But which ones do you use?
To help you mine at the highest speed, here are the best pickaxe enchantments that you can have on your pickaxe in Minecraft.
4) Unbreaking
Unbreaking is a type of enchantment that makes it so that your equipment loses its durability much slower. Durability is the value of a piece of equipment that determines how many uses it has left before the item destroys itself. With the sheer amount of mining that is involved while playing this game, Unbreaking is one of the best pickaxe enchantments.
We recommend getting Unbreaking III on your pickaxe, as it is the max you can have on a piece of equipment.

3) Efficiency
Like Unbreaking, Efficiency is yet another essential enchantment for your pickaxe. What it does is make you mine faster while using your pickaxe. At max level, the mining speed is increased by 45%. However, the effect only works when the tool is used on a proper block. The enchanted pickaxe won’t cut wood faster, but it will mine stone faster.
The maximum level of Efficiency you can get for your pickaxe is V. We recommend getting two Level IV Efficiency books or pickaxes and combining them at an anvil to get Level V Efficiency.
2) Fortune
Fortune is the best enchantment, not just for pickaxes, but for every other resource-gathering equipment. When you have it on your pickaxe, every level of Fortune increases the chance of you getting more resources when you break ore blocks. In other words, at Fortune III, you might get four diamonds instead of one when you break diamond blocks. The only exception to this is the Ancient Debris; the amount dropped doesn’t change even with the Fortune enchantment.

1) Mending
Mending is undoubtedly the best enchantment for your pickaxe in Minecraft. What this enchantment does is repair the durability of your equipment as you gain experience points. You can make XP farms to repair your equipment easily, but the pickaxe has another advantage. Ore blocks drop experience orbs when broken; therefore, you can repair your pickaxe as you keep mining.
This alone makes this the best enchantment you can get on your pickaxe. Not only for your pickaxe, but for every other piece of equipment that you use.
