You upgrade your Floor Plans in Blue Prince by finding Upgrade Disks and then taking these disks to a Terminal. Upgrade Disks are found mainly through exploring. Since these are rare, it will take you a while to find one. Once you have an Upgrade Disk, head over to any Terminal. You can find a Terminal in multiple places, but the easiest ones to access are in the Security Room and the Shelter room.
Head over to any Terminal and insert with the computer. The computer will then ask you to enter the Upgrade Disk. Enter the Upgrade Disk, and the computer will then select a random room to upgrade. While having no control over the room upgraded may seem a little unfair, you do get control over the upgrades installed. The computer will display a list of three upgrades you can pick from, so select the one you like and confirm your selection to improve the room and upgrade your Floor Plan. The upgrades are permanent and carry over to all of your runs.
