Learn everything you need to know about Factory Resource in Civilization 7 with the help of this short and simple guide.

Factory Resources in Civilization 7 are all about giving your settlements a buff that you can benefit from. However, they are not simple to obtain and might confuse you at first. This is why we are here to guide you through obtaining and using these helpful resources.
You can put these Factory Resources in your settlements’ Resource slots and gain the special bonus they offer. There is a catch, though. As you would expect, they are unlocked when you reach the Modern Age in the game. So, unless your civilization has reached this point, you may not be able to use these resources at all.
Players can hover over a Resource icon on the map to find out the Resource they have available to them. While it can vary from each gameplay to the other, here are a few that we commonly found:
- Tea (+3% Science)
- Cocoa (+3% Happiness)
- Kaolin (+3% Culture)
- Fish (+5% Settlement Growth Rate)
- Quinine (+1 HP recovery for units)
- Citrus (+5% Production towards training Naval Units)
There will be more in the game that you find on your playthrough that may not appear for everyone around the same point in time. However, the good part is that using each of them requires the same steps.
Step-by-Step Guide To Use Factory Resource in Civilization 7

There are a few steps that you will need to take before you can jump into reaping profit from a specific Factory Resource. Be mindful of the following steps to ensure that you get those resources you were looking for:
- Railroads: First and foremost, what you would want to do is build a Factory. However, that task is impossible if the desired settlement is not connected to the Capital via Railroads. These roads will be accessible in the Modern Tech Tree after researching Military Sciences, which then unlocks Industrialization. Place a Rail Station in the Capital and the settlement where you wish to build the Factory. When both buildings are finished, the road connecting the two settlements will be converted into a Railroad.
- Factories: So far, there can only be one Factory per settlement. Visit the Modern Tech Tree and research the Mass Production technology. Don’t worry, it’s right after the Industrialization technology we talked about above. You will then be able to build a factory in the settlement connected via Railroad.
- Using the Resources: Heading to the Resource tab will let you allocate a Factory to a Factory Slot. These slots will only appear in settlements where it is possible to build a Factory. Also, note that you can only mass-produce one resource per settlement.
