Sprong also known as the Continent is an optional boss in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. This boss is located on the west side of the overworld. Sprong is a formidable foe and you’ll need a well-thought strategy to take him down. This guide will go over every aspect of the fight including weaknesses, strategies, and attack patterns of the enemy.

The recommended level of your party is 45-50+ with a few must-have skills. These skills include Sword Ballet and Guard Down for Maelle, All Set, and Twilight Dance for Sciel. Typhoon and Crippling Tsunami for Lune and Purification and Steeled Strike for Verso. Unlocking these skills will make the boss fight easier and more streamlined for you.

Where To Find Sprong in Clair Obscur Expedition 33?

Find Sprong

Sprong is a giant being standing in the water on the west side of the game’s map. This area is located in the west of Blades’ Graveyard, near some of the coral. Sprong is accessible after getting the ability to swim, but we recommend saving this fight for much later. We recommend at least upgrading your party to level 45 before taking on the Continent. Higher levels make the boss much more beatable and easier.

Sprong’s attacks are straightforward and are easier to parry/dodge than other optional bosses. The only difficulty of this fight is his attack power and health bar. You’ll have to dodge Sprong’s AoE attacks, multi-target attacks, and Exhaust status that stunts AP regeneration. The fight is doable on lower levels, but we recommend at least obtaining the Painted Power Picto to bypass the damage cap.

The attacks come in five stages that never switch. In Stage 1, the boss slams its arms down, attacking everyone in your party. You can parry/dodge as soon as Sprong’s arms begin to descend. In Stage 2 the boss shoots four random targets, which exhaust characters on hit. The first three beams are continuous while the last one is after a longer delay. You must pay attention to the sound cues and charging phase. You can parry/dodge when the attack is done charging before it fires.

In Stage 3 of the fight, the boss attacks 4 random targets with its arms. This attack also gets an extra hit for the quarter of health that Sprong is missing. The final hit can be repeated to add more hits. You can parry/dodge as Sprong’s arms get close to the land where your character is standing. The strikes have easy-to-miss wind-ups before the actual attacks. In Stage 4, the boss charges its next attack. In the last stage of the fight, Sprong fires two huge lasers at your party. You can parry/ dodge after a laser charges up before it impacts.

Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 start when the boss drops below 75 percent health, 50 percent, and 25 percent health respectively. It is recommended to use Maelle’s Sword Ballet, Sciel’s Twilight Dance, and Verso’s Steeled Strike skills on the boss. Other skills like Maelle’s Offensive Stance can render Sprong defenseless. While Lune can inflict Slow with Crippling Tsunami, Sciel can double a party member’s damage with Fortune’s Fury. Maelle’s Medalum, Sciel’s Chation, Lune’s Trebuchim’s or Scaverim, and Verso’s Dualiso and Cruleram are effective in this fight.

After defeating Sprong you’ll get a level 24 Cheater Picto which allows you to play again after your turn ends. This Cheater Picto makes many fights much easier.
