Discover which Partial Res dominates the meta after the rework. From Vampire to Acid, pick the right move in Type Soul.

Partial Res in Type Soul isn’t what it used to be. With the re-release changes limiting you to just one move, the entire system now depends on picking the right ability for your build. It’s no longer about rarity or looks; Common Partials can outperform Mythics if the move hits hard and combos well.
Reiatsu drain, guardbreaks, and iFrames are the new priority, and some options like Vampire or Acid take full advantage of that. If you’re stuck with something mid, don’t worry, as there are reroll options available using current Type Soul codes.
Complete Partial Res Tier List for Type Soul

The new Partial Res system puts everything on one move, so you need to make sure it counts. Whether it’s for combo extension, pressure, or utility, your Partial Res has to fit your playstyle and build. Because if it doesn’t, you’re just wasting potential. Below is the current ranking from S to C, based on how effective their best move is and how well it integrates with the meta.
S-Tier
These Partial Res options offer the highest value, either by draining resources, comboing easily, or applying constant pressure.
- Vampire (Legendary): Steals both Reiatsu and HP. The X and C moves are oppressive and work against any build relying on rei sustain. This move is effective in drain-based pressure setups.
- Light (Mythic): All three moves are viable depending on your build. Z is ideal for Kido users, X closes gaps fast, and C provides strong close-range damage.
- Shark (Rare): X is the core reason to pick Shark. It gives iFrames, resets neutral, and punishes hard with a guardbreak.
- Acid (Common): Z is easy to land with large AOE and DOT, setting up true combos into moves like Rising Swallow or Fast Fang.
- Bone (Common): C is reliable. The double-hit AOE interrupts enemy actions and leads cleanly into follow-ups like Sonata Flow or critical strikes.
- Phoenix (Rare): Rei-draining kit with a strong Z move that applies Seared, causing posture and stun damage. Good synergy with fast-paced melee builds.
A-Tier
These are strong picks but often rely on certain builds or lack flexibility across situations.
- Slash (Common): C is fast and works well after any interrupt, parry, or stun. Bleed damage adds up quickly in aggressive trades.
- Starrk (Legendary): Z allows pressure play and chains well into Cero Oscuras for cooldown resets. Other moves are harder to use reliably.
- Horse (Legendary): With Ground Hakuda, X becomes a true combo monster. High AOE, posture damage, and synergy make it dangerous up close.
- Storm (Common): Balanced across all moves. Z and C offer teleport options, while X guardbreaks and sets up fast melee.
- Panthera (Rare): X gives mobility and easy combo follow-ups. Z and C don’t add much but still provide utility if needed.
B-Tier

Decent picks, but either too situational or need very specific builds to work effectively.
- Arrogante (Legendary): X can disable flashstep or apply a debuff, but the effects are random. Z and C don’t lead into combos reliably.
- Volcanica (Legendary): Z gives mobility and burn damage with a slam finish. X is usable but not game-changing. C is harder to time and punishable.
- Devil (Rare): Works best with Air Hakuda or Speed. Z provides posture pressure, and C is fast with good follow-ups, but no true combo means a high skill requirement.
C-Tier
Outdated or underpowered picks. These options need buffs or highly specific setups to be functional.
- Snake (Mythic): Heavily nerfed. X has some value as a defensive tool and combo starter, but C is weak, and Z is just okay.
- Spirit (Rare): Only Z is usable with its AOE hitbox. X and C are both ineffective in most matchups. Needs a rework to be viable.
Each Partial Res move now defines your effectiveness in fights. If you land Cero Oscuras, you get a reset, but that only matters if the move you’re resetting is worth using. Pick based on your playstyle, combo potential, and synergy with your main build.
