Traveling through challenging terrain, including rivers, is an everyday job in Death Stranding 2. You will be required to cross many rivers in the game on foot because the missions are crafted in such a way. However, things can often get tough if you don’t know how to do that. Moreover, you may not be in the perfect condition to cross a river using the same method every time. So, it is important that you learn all the possible ways to travel across rivers in Death Stranding 2.

1) Paving a Way

You can simply walk through a river if it’s safe enough. This method is useful if you don’t have a vehicle around to help you get across. All you have to do is hold L2 and R2 to maintain a perfect balance. If you end up leaning to either the left or right side, just hold the trigger button for the opposite side. You can use your scanner by pressing R1 to determine whether the river is crossable. A blue square means that it’s safe to cross. A yellow square means that you can hold L2 and R2 to cross the river, and you will need plenty of stamina for this method. Lastly, a red square means the water is not crossable at all.

2) Use Ladders

You can use a ladder horizontally to let yourself walk over a river. One drawback of this method is that you usually need rocks to hedge your ladders because of how the physics works in this game. If there are none around, using a ladder won’t usually give you the best experience.

3) Use the Reverse Trike

The best method in Death Stranding 2 to cross a river safely is with the help of a Reverse Trike. It is a three-wheeler vehicle that players can use to traverse through the world of Death Stranding. The fun part is that you can cross some rivers using this vehicle too, and you won’t need to hold your luggage or manage your stamina for the same.
