Death Stranding 2: How To Dodge and Evade

You can’t block every attack that comes your way in Death Stranding 2, and sometimes dodging and evading is the way to go.

The world of Death Stranding was always a dangerous one, but one you chose to explore to form a connection. Now, with Death Stranding 2, the stakes are higher than ever, and so is the danger prevalent in the world. The threats Sam will face on his journey are no joke, and different sorts of dangers require different tactics.

While you can easily block most of the attacks coming your way, for enemies like the Beached Things, you need to pull out a dodge maneuver. Sam, while not a super soldier by any means, is more than capable of defending himself, and his dodge is one of the best evasive maneuvers you can use in Death Stranding 2.

How To Dodge and Evade in Death Stranding 2

Dodging and evading is quite intricate in Death Stranding 2 and allows you to dodge attacks in three different directions. The direction you dodge in depends on the enemy you’re facing. In order to dodge in Death Stranding 2, follow the instructions given below: 

• While standing, press L2 + X if you wish to dodge to the left. 
• In the same standing position, press R2 + X if you wish to dodge to the right.
• The direction you pick to dodge depends heavily on the enemy attack pattern. Study the enemy attacks and press L2 or R2 as needed. 
• If neither left nor right makes sense to dodge for a certain attack, you can hold L2 + R2 + X to dodge behind. In this, Sam will leap behind and evade the attack.

When you successfully guess the enemy attack and dodge accordingly, you will evade the attack. Dodging correctly and successfully evading the attack saves you from taking damage. Practice the game’s dodging mechanic, and you’ll be able to use it like second nature in no time.
