The Death Stranding series is renowned for its unique open-world experience, blending single-player gameplay with asynchronous social elements. Kojima refers to this concept as the ‘Strand’ genre. Since connection is the core theme of the series, players can find and use structures, vehicles, and cargo from other players while exploring the world. Death Stranding 2 enhanced this system with the Strand Contracts feature.

Although it doesn’t function like a traditional multiplayer game, Death Stranding 2 allows players to feel the presence of others, form a connection, and assist them indirectly. While primarily being a single-player experience, players can still get help from fellow players. You might encounter useful structures and signs, or even have your cargo delivered with the help of other players.

Since these connections and occurrences are random, finding your friends’ structures from a sea of random players is challenging. Follow this guide to find out how to find your friends’ structures effectively using the Strand Contracts system in Death Stranding 2.

Once the Social Strand Service (SSS) becomes available, you can view your connections from the Bridge Links tab. Here, you will find your gameplay statistics, recent player interactions, and connections. The Bridge Links also displays the Strand Contracts, along with your PlayStation Network friends playing Death Stranding 2. Selecting a player’s name brings up their player profile. Then press the Touchpad to make the Strand Contract. You can also press it again to sever the Strand Contract if needed.

Once you have established a Strand Contract with your friend, their structures, vehicles, signs, and deliveries are more likely to appear in your world. A handshake icon indicates that the structure you have seen belongs to someone from your Strand Contract.

The Strand Contract increases the likelihood of finding your friend’s structures and makes them appear often. However, it doesn’t mean it eliminates the structures from random players’ structures, which you will still be able to find in your world. You begin with the limit of 10 Strand Contracts, but you can increase it through the Strand Contract Cap Boost APAS Enhancement.
