Death Stranding 2 emphasizes combat alongside its gripping narrative. The sequel introduces new combat mechanics as well as weapons. While certain weapons excel in head-on battles, others, like the Dog Mine, enhance your tactical play. Similar to the Electric Trap, the Dog Mine allows you to strategically take out enemies stealthily without fighting them. 

The Dog Mine is a unique thrown weapon that makes combat fun and creative. This canine-shaped landmine chases enemies and pounces at them, triggering an explosion. It is one of the unique and effective weapons that significantly enhances your tactical combat. This guide explains how you can acquire and use the Dog Mine in Death Stranding 2.

How To Obtain Dog Mine in Death Stranding 2

The Dog Mine becomes available once you unlock the Sub Order 106, which requires you to recover the Ghost Mech Cargo from the Weapons Factory. Pick up the Sub Order 106 from the Mechanic and deliver it to the Data Scientist, whose base is located to the east of Heartman’s Lab and west of Savanna Mine. Once you complete the delivery to the Data Scientist, you will unlock the weapon data for Dog Mine while also receiving 780 likes. Once unlocked, you can then fabricate Dog Mine at any facility using the following materials:

  • 190x Resins
  • 70x Metals
  • 80x Chemicals 

How To Use Dog Mine in Death Stranding 2

The Dog Mine works just like other throwables. Equip the Dog Mine from your weapon wheel, aim, and throw it. When deployed near any enemies, the dog-shaped mine detects the nearby targets and launches at them, causing an explosion. It can attack only once. It electrocutes the human targets while dealing explosive blast damage to mechanical targets.

You can deploy up to 8 Dog Mines at a time, allowing your loyal pets to protect you while causing complete mayhem. However, note that these canine-shaped mines won’t detect BTs and are therefore ineffective against them.
