Learn the different methods to increase your carry weight capacity in Death Stranding 2 and deliver cargo more effectively.

The Death Stranding 2 game loop requires you to carry a heavy load and traverse across the harsh surfaces and mountains. While most games feature an encumbrance mechanism, Death Stranding takes a unique approach by adding more realism.
The more weight you carry, the more you lose your balance. Exceeding the weight limit causes Sam to stumble and collapse, damaging cargo and containers. Given the importance of cargo delivery in Death Stranding 2, ensuring it reaches its destination safely with minimal damage is essential.
At the start, Sam’s carry weight limit may seem a lot. However, as you load weapons, traversal tools, and cargo, you will quickly realize how limited your backpack space is. Carrying cargo is one of the basic aspects of Death Stranding 2, and fortunately, you will have several ways to increase your carry weight capacity.

How to Carry More Weight in Death Stranding 2

The amount of cargo and items you carry can be increased by several methods.
- You can increase Sam’s Carrying Capacity stat naturally by carrying a heavy weight across long distances. You can check it by opening the map and selecting Sam’s Stats. Sam’s Carrying Capacity increases with each level, and you will get a hefty 30kg boost at level 5.
- Accumulating Chiral Crystals is another viable method during the early game. For every 1000 Chiral Crystals Sam holds, the total weight of his backpack load is reduced by 1 kg, meaning you can carry an extra 1kg.
- After you reach Australia and establish a level 2 connection with the Government, you can unlock the Chiral Antigravity Device. This backpack attachment decreases your backpack’s overall weight. This also means that you can carry more cargo than usual. You can also fabricate and use multiple Chiral Antigravity Devices to increase Sam’s cargo carrying capacity considerably.
- Using vehicles like Tri-cruiser and Pickup Off-Roader is one of the excellent methods to transport heavy loads. You can simply load the cargo into a vehicle and ride it to your destination. Alternatively, you can also use a Floating Carrier to load heavy cargo and drag it like a trolley to your destination.
- Using a Battle Skeleton is undoubtedly one of the best ways to increase your cargo carrying capacity. The level 1 variant of this Exoskeleton increases your carry limit by 60 kg, with the higher levels increasing it even further. However, it comes with a trade-off—it prevents you from loading cargo onto your legs.
