Sam has some of the best gear and equipment to see him through some of the most demanding delivery jobs. The man can lift hundreds of kilos of weight and haul them across the vast stretch of land. However, in some scenarios, the weight of cargo will surpass even his carrying capabilities. While you can still try to make such deliveries on foot, it will take considerably longer. Also, the chances of Sam losing his balance and taking a tumble are significant.

So, if you want to save your time and ensure your cargo reaches its destination safely, you’ll need to find alternate ways of transportation. Thankfully, the game provides many. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can transport overweight cargo in Death Stranding 2.

There are four primary ways in which you can carry cargo that exceeds Sam’s carrying capacity.

Floating Carriers

These are one of the best ways to improve how much cargo Sam can haul. At Level 1, Floating Carriers can help Sam carry up to 300 kg. There’s a further upgrade that you can unlock at its Level 2, where the Floating Carrier can haul up to 900 kg. It will attach to your backpack and follow wherever you’re going. You can unlock the Floating Carrier once you connect the West Fort Knot facility to the Chiral Network. Level 2 of the gear will unlock during the later portions of the game.

Vehicles

Death Stranding 2 features several types of vehicles that Sam unlocks over time. However, the best one to carry significant amounts of gear over even the roughest terrain is the Pickup Off-Roader. This vehicle has much better handling even when crossing through mountains or uneven ground. The only downside to using a vehicle when hauling cargo is that they will eventually run out of batteries. So, you’ll need to make an estimate to understand whether your destination is close enough for the vehicle to reach with its batteries still powering it.

While the Monorail is a valid option to transport overweight cargo in Death Stranding 2, you’ll have to work hard to expand its routes. You will need to spend significant resources and materials on the Tracklayers below the Monorail system. Doing so will then expand the routes that the Monorail can take. By default, the monorail might not be able to reach many of the locations on the map, making it pretty worthless. However, after making progress with its expansion, it could be a great way to reach your delivery destination even with the heaviest of cargo.

Skeletons

Skeletons are special pieces of gear that you can equip on Sam. These will enhance his weight-carrying capacity and provide additional benefits, such as combat improvements. However, they need batteries to run too, which means you’ll have to recharge them using generators or by visiting one of the facilities. Later on in the game, you’ll get even better Skeletons that will increase your carrying capacity further.
