While the Watchtower can survey much quicker and at depth, using Dollman has no requirement and can be done anywhere in DS2. Once you throw him high up, he can suspend himself midair to have a look around.

When To Use Dollman In DS2?
As mentioned before, Dollman can be used in Death Stranding 2 to figure out enemy locations or have an idea about the terrain ahead. Both use cases are very important to you as a porter. Marking enemies allows you to track them as you assail the camp. Learning about the terrain ahead lets you plan accordingly on which route you can take and what resources you should or shouldn’t use.
Unlike the Watchtower, Dollman’s special recon ability isn’t dependent on the chiral network and can be used anywhere.
