Dragon Age: The Veilguard is nearing its official release date. Although the game is about a week away from launch, developer Bioware has kept many details under the wraps. Based on the pattern of most AAA releases nowadays, players may be wondering whether there’s an “early access” or “advanced access” program for BioWare’s upcoming action RPG. Most titles published by EA offer an “early access” incentive for purchasing the Deluxe, Ultimate, or Premium editions. As such, it isn’t surprising that some players are hoping that Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s $90 Deluxe Edition may offer a similar incentive.

Unfortunately, BioWare and EA aren’t offering any early access for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Regardless of which version of the game you purchase, i.e., Standard or Deluxe, you’ll be able to play the game on its scheduled release date, not any time early. That said, if you’re on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, there’s still a way to play the game a few hours earlier than the rest of the world.

Here’s everything you need to know about Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s release, the early unlock trick, and more.

When Is Dragon Age: The Veilguard Releasing?

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is scheduled to be released on October 31, 2024. The game is coming to all current generation platforms, i.e., PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC. Regardless of which version of the game you buy, Standard or Deluxe, there’s no early access. All versions will unlock on the same date for all players. The console versions of the game will unlock on October 31 at midnight, local time. Whereas, the PC version will be unlocked on October 31 at 9 AM Pacific Time.

Furthermore, pre-loads for The Veilguard are now live on Xbox Series X|S. On PS5, the pre-download will go live on October 29, 2024. There’s no pre-load for PC.

According to Bioware, since the PC version doesn’t feature any DRM (akin to Denuvo), it’s not available to pre-download. PC players will be able to download and play Dragon Age: The Veilguard on the release date. In terms of file size, The Veilguard takes up roughly 93 GB of space. The download size is 92 GB, without the day-one update.

How to Play Dragon Age: The Veilguard Early Using the New Zealand Trick

While there’s no official early access for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you can still use the age-old “New Zealand trick” to play the game a few hours early. However, it should be noted that this trick only works on consoles. PC players will, unfortunately, have to wait till the actual release time.

The New Zealand trick is quite simple. You just need to change your console’s (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) region and time to New Zealand. After that, simply reboot your console to unlock the game and play it a couple of hours early. It’s highly recommended to have the game pre-loaded before you do the New Zealand trick, so you can jump into The Veilguard as soon as it unlocks.
