Chapter 1 of Doom The Dark Ages begins in the eerie ruins of the Village of Khalim. If you are looking to gather every item in this area, it’s easy to overlook a few hidden corners. This guide walks you through everything without overcomplicating it.

The first chapter has a range of collectibles spread across multiple objectives. These include toys, skins, codex entries, and Life Sigils. Some require careful observation. Others are tucked behind hidden paths or locked doors. Take your time as you move through the village, and make sure to check areas that appear less traveled.

Toy Collectibles

Imp Toy

You will come across the Imp Toy shortly after finishing the church sequence. Once you are back outside, take the trail leading left. Use the Blue Key, which you get from the cultists earlier, to unlock a nearby gate. The toy sits just beyond it, close to your second objective.

Soldier Toy

Once you reach the point where the Shredder weapon is dropped, head toward the cliff behind it. Look carefully—there’s a ledge leading into a cave. Inside, you will find supplies and the Soldier Toy. You will naturally reach this area during your third objective.

Weapon Skin

Combat Shotgun Skin

This one isn’t obvious at first. At the Shredder weapon drop, turn in the direction the weapon case faces. A cave lies ahead, hidden across a small gap. Sprinting during the jump helps reach it. This section falls near the third objective. Inside that cave, you will find the Nightmare version of the shotgun skin.

Codex Entries

Doom Slayer Codex

To locate this entry, take down the large portal during the third objective. Behind it, there is a raised area. Climb up to reach the codex. It’s easy to walk past this spot if you don’t check behind the structure.

Village of Khalim Codex

Later, as you approach the final task of this chapter, look left for a wall scramble. Climb up using it. At the top, there’s a Codex page waiting. This area marks the fourth objective, so don’t rush past once you are close to the end.

Life Sigils

• Life Sigil 1
  • This one appears shortly after the tutorial for melee combat. Look at the left side of the room. There’s a wooden barrier blocking a passage. Use your shield to break through it and grab the first Life Sigil.
• Life Sigil 2
  • On the route toward another portal, there is a cave. Once you enter, enemies will surround you. Defeat all of them to lift the trap and open the gate inside. Behind it lies the second sigil. You will be in this area during the third objective.
• Life Sigil 3
  • Once you collect the Purple Key, return to the area near the first portal. A locked gate there contains the third sigil. This section also lines up with your third objective, so it’s a good time to circle back.
