Learn all the Secret Key locations in Doom The Dark Ages, across chapters, and how to get each of them in detail.
The Secret Keys are easily the most prized possessions in Doom The Dark Ages, just like in the previous two titles. However, unlike in Doom Eternal, the Secret Keys in The Dark Ages serve as a “one-size-fits-all” solution for most optional secrets. While the first Secret Key is obtained naturally in the very first chapter, the later ones become increasingly difficult and at times, even tedious, to find. The Automap is incredibly useful for locating optional secrets across various chapters, but finding every Key isn’t easy when you are fending off hordes of demons and legions of hell.
Thankfully, there aren’t many Secret Keys to find in The Dark Ages. In fact, there are only 8 of them across the 22 chapters. This makes it manageable, especially on repeat playthroughs or mission replays. Here’s a comprehensive guide to every Secret Key location in Doom The Dark Ages.
All Secret Key Locations in Doom The Dark Ages
The Secret Keys in Doom The Dark Ages unlock various rewards. A single Secret Key can open multiple locked doors within a level. For example, the first Key you obtain in the Village of Khalim chapter unlocks two separate doors with hidden rewards. However, not every chapter includes a Secret Key. Most chapters are expansive, open levels filled with hidden secrets. While some linear levels, similar to Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, exist, they are less common. These larger levels typically exclude Secret Keys due to their open design.
Instead, secrets at such levels are often accessed through platforming and the use of the new Shield Bash ability. The Secret Keys, on the other hand, are mostly found in the more linear chapters. Here’s a list of all chapters that contain a Secret Key:

All Secret Keys: Where To Find and How To Get Them
Here’s a list of all Secret Keys and how you can obtain them:

| Chapter 1 | Village of Khalim | You will get the very first Secret Key during the main story mission itself. Simply keep an eye out for the elevated platform that you reach while destroying the Demon Portals. You will find the Secret Key tucked in a corner. |
| Chapter 6 | Siege Part 1 | Make sure to keep an eye on the Automap while exploring the open section of the map. Once you reach the forested area, look for a ledge (it’s not missable). On top of it, you will find the Secret Key, amidst the rubble. |
| Chapter 7 | Siege Part 2 | To find the Secret Key in Chapter 7, head to the second-floor balcony. There’s a breakable wall. Use the Shield Bash to break through it and claim the Key hidden behind. |
| Chapter 9 | Ancestral Forge | Once you progress through the opening section of the chapter, you will reach a junction with a jump pad. Use it to leap across to the other side, where the Key awaits. |
| Chapter 10 | The Forsaken Plains | Early in the chapter, head left toward the ruined building. Use the Shield Recall ability to drop through a hole in the ground. At the bottom, you will find the Secret Key. |
| Chapter 12 | Sentinel Command Station | To get the Secret key in Chapter 12, reach up to the Ventilators. Make your way through the area, and you will reach a platform with enemies. Defeat them to unlock and obtain the Secret Key. |
| Chapter 17 | Temple of Romaninth | At the end of Chapter 17, you will reach the Temple Gates. Instead of using the keys on it, make your way around the area to reach a giant airship. Jump on the ship and defeat the mini-boss to obtain the Secret Key. |
| Chapter 22 | Reckoning | Just before the final boss arena, you will find an elevator. Instead of entering it, simply look back and find the Secret Key. |
