Revealing the Tomb

Chapter 14, Spire of Nerathul, begins with a bang. You will have to take on the Komodo Champion at the very beginning of the mission. It will be a one-on-one boss fight, but won’t be particularly difficult. Only keep in mind that this boss moves a lot throughout the arena, so you will have to remain focused throughout the fight. Other than that, making use of the various weapons in your arsenal could prove key in your road to victory.

Once the Komodo Champion is dead, a sentinel soldier will inform you that they have found a control switch to drain the water levels. Now, the location of said switch is not very far. All you have to do is follow the quest marker; it should be a few hundred meters away. After arriving at the location, interact with the panel with a skull on it. Then, a brief cutscene will reveal a tomb. Inside, it will be an entity that can potentially lead you to Commander Thira.

After the reveal, your faithful mount will arrive because you will need it to reach the next area. So, hop on its back and fly towards the newly exposed tomb. The Doom Slayer will need to deactivate the Stasis Emitters around the tomb before he can progress further into the story. There are three in total. Fly to the quest marker. It will lead you into a cavern. Inside, you will have to take an enemy ship down.

Seeking The Stasis Emitters

Once it is destroyed, you will be greeted by a demonic plant with animosity. It will send shockwave attacks towards you. Keep a close eye on them; you will need to dodge to the left and the right according to the attack pattern. The plant can only be killed by shooting its exposed core. So, keep raining down bullets on it whenever it opens up, and eventually it will die.

Keep going deeper into the cavern until you reach a green colored landing area. Now, you will have to do some walking. Go straight towards the quest marker, and to your right will be a climbable wall. Claw your way to its top and then climb yet another wall to find the jump pad that will lead you to the next path.

There, you will have to fight a few enemies. After defeating all of them, keep moving. You will meet more enemies blocking your path; it is a sign that you are on the right track. Doom The Dark Ages has relatively linear maps. So, you won’t lose your way even if you try. Still, if you get confused at any given time, start walking towards the marker. You will then come across a ledge. The path will continue to the other side of said ledge, so jump towards it.

There will be ground underneath. So, you can climb to the other side even if you fall. Furthermore, the moment you step foot into the next area, you will meet a few demons. Take them out and keep moving. Now, jump down to the floor below, and follow the path that goes even deeper into the location. You will see a fallen pillar there that you can walk on. At the end of it, you will notice a group of enemies directly beneath you.

Disabling The First Emitter

Jump down on them and start ripping and tearing. After that, following the direction of the objective marker will take you deeper and into the lower levels. There you will meet another group of demons similar to the one you just destroyed, but with more numbers. After killing them, open your map. There will be a new level just below the one you are standing on. Jump down to it.

There will be another group of enemies. However, do not take them lightly because this time, a demon leader will be present in the arena. This particular area is quite open, so after killing the demons, you can easily spot the quest marker. It should be around 300 meters away from the demon leader’s location. Sweep up some more enemies on your way, and eventually you will reach a lever at the far corner of the map.

Using it will open the gates to the Stasis Emitter. Interact with it and disable it. After that, your mount will arrive again to take you off. But nothing is as easy as it seems, and you will be stopped by a big demon. Kill it, and an enemy ship will appear. Follow it, and between the numerous cliffs and ruins, it will take you towards the next area. After destroying the ship, you can move on to the landing area right below you.

Disabling The Second Emitter

Dismount and continue your journey on foot again. You will come across a shield rune named Heaven Splitter. It essentially converts hell surged projectiles into bolts of energy that stun enemies and summon lightning on impact. You will then have to fight your way to the objective marker. Just following the road you are on will lead you to the location you want to be in. So, navigation won’t be hard, and you can put your entire focus on the fights.

Once you have defeated the numerous waves of demons. Go to the marker, and you will find the second Stasis Emitter; destroy it. Then again, your mount will appear, and you will have to chase another enemy ship. It will lead you to another hostile plant, but this time you will have to dodge in all directions. Take it out just like the one before, and it will clear the way for the next location.

At the end of the cavern, you will find another landing spot. There, the giant metal gate will open a new area on its own. You will enter a combat arena in the newly opened location. On your way to the next objective, you will meet another wave of enemies with some big and tough demons. After clearing it, head towards the room in the south-west of the area.

Disabling The Last Stasis Emitter

The moment you enter it, all the exits will be locked, and you will have to defeat more demons. However, once you have done it, you can get the Ruby from the right side to the exit and then get out of that place. After defeating yet another wave of enemies on your journey, you will finally reach the objective location, which is an elevator. Stand on the green marking on its floor to activate it.

After reaching further depths, you will come across a somewhat open area with the last Stasis Emitter. Cleanse the arena of all demons and hellish creatures and destroy the last emitter. You know the gameplay loop by now. Your mount will arrive next, and you will have to destroy some enemies on its back. Then, you will get to know that there is a weapon that can free the entity from the tomb. That is where you will have to go next.

The landing zone will be east of the tomb. After dismounting, open your map. You will see that the objective is not that far. All you have to do is follow the direction of the marker and take out the enemies along the path. After defeating the last of the enemies, approach the metal gate and open it. Past it will be a weapon named B.F.C. Aim at the tomb and shoot to destroy it completely. Of course, the Doom Slayer will keep the Ballistic Force Crossbow, and it will stay in your arsenal for the rest of your playthrough.

Now, you will have to face stronger waves of enemies. Thanks to your new weapon, it won’t be much of an issue. After beating the first group of demons, jump down to the platform below the broken tomb. Keep destroying demons and moving forward. After going through an underwater cavern, you will emerge onto the surface to find an elevator. Stand on the green markings there to activate it.

Freeing The Deity From Its Tomb

Once on the upper level, after the first enemy area, take the blue portal. It will teleport to a location with a jump pad. Use it and keep moving towards the marker. You will find another arena with demons on the way, as their presence usually indicates that you are on the right path. There will be another jump pad there. After slaying your enemies, take the jump pad. Walk to the last platform and then jump down to the cliff to your left to continue your journey.

You will then need to jump down to the floor below at the end of the road. There, if you look to your right, you will see the giant entity moving. On this floor, there will be another elevator with the objective marker on it. It will take you to an open area on the upper level. There is not much to do here. Walk straight to the objective, which is the final switch. Interacting with it will trigger a cutscene and free the Lovecraftian Deity.

This monster will take the Doom Slayer through a portal, and it will mark the end of Chapter 14, Spire of Nerathul in Doom The Dark Ages.
