Although the Slayer can perfectly handle all the demons and their attacks, you will still have to dodge out of necessity several times. In most cases, dodging is a mechanic that you will not normally use in DOOM The Dark Ages. That said, when you are in your Atlan or using the Cyber Dragon, you will need to dodge in order to empower your attacks.

Although perfect dodge can be performed for all attacks, only a few of them can trigger the empower mechanic. In this article, we will explain how you can perfect dodge in DOOM The Dark Ages.

To perfect dodge, you need to “dash” in the free-space direction of the attack in DOOM The Dark Ages. You can only perfect dodge when on your Cyber Dragon or using the Atlan. However the mechanic is slightly different for both of these instances.

You can perfect dodge by dashing away from any of the “green” attacks just before they hit you on the Cyber Dragon in DOOM The Dark Ages. Doing so will not only allow you to avoid an attack, but it will also empower your attacks on the Cyber Dragon.

While normal attacks look like normal rounds of ammunition with a thin and red tracer, the empowered attacks are blue and appear more like lasers. These do more damage, and are the only attacks that can break enemy shields.

To perfect dodge an attack while using the Atlan, you also need to dash away right before the enemy’s attack is about to hit you. Based on the weapon that you are using, there can be two ways this plays out:

  1. If you are using Melee on the Atlan: In Melee mode, perfect dodging will give you a significant amount of charge to deal a finisher move.
  2. If you are using a weapon on the Atlan: Perfect dodging while using a weapon will supercharge it, which will greatly increase its damage output. The barrel (or mouth) of the weapon will also glow red in this case, acting as a visual indicator for this.
