The Regaining Control contract in Dune Awakening sends you on the search for Kara Valk’s missing smuggler.
Dune Awakening’s Arrakis is a world of mysteries, and you get to uncover these mysteries through the game’s several quests and contracts. Regaining Control is one such contract in the game that taps into the horrifying underworld of Arrakis.
In this quest, Kara Valk informs you that her smuggler has gone missing. She had sent him to retrieve intel on servo-stim transmitters, and he has since gone dark. She wishes for you to investigate his disappearance, and what follows is a whodunit mystery that takes you deep into the underworld of Arrakis.

You begin Regaining Control by talking to Kara Valk and accepting her contract. Kara asks you to head to the smuggler’s rendezvous point in Harko Village. Go to Harko Village, and then to the marked rendezvous point. When the smuggler does not show up, head to the black market and talk to the bartender.
She will direct you to a nearby lodge where you will discover a ledger with information. Head to the lounge read the ledger, and return to relay the information to the bartender. She will then direct you to Jabal Eifrit.
Head to the marked location in Jabal Eifrit and scan the area for clues. You can use the Handheld Life Scanner to do so. The scanner will mark the smuggler’s stash, which will then lead you to a marked Mineral Extraction Facility in Hagga Rift.
Make your way to the marked Mineral Extraction Facility and head inside. This area is heavily guarded, and the guards patrol in large numbers. Your best bet is to run past all of them and keep heading down. Drop all the way down and reach the lowest floor of the facility. You will find the smuggler’s remains here. Interact with his corpse and return to Kara Valk to update her on the smuggler’s fate.
