You can build as many bases as you want in Dune Awakening, but know that you’ll have to pay the Imperial Solari Tax on all of those properties. If you don’t clear your taxes from time to time, you’ll face severe consequences, some of which include losing the shielding on the delinquent properties. Over time, the harsh weather of Arrakis will damage and completely destroy any bases where there’s no shielding. The game does a good job of introducing you to its tax system through an aptly named Miscellaneous quest, Taxation.

In this guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the Taxation quest in Dune Awakening.

To get this quest going, you’ll need to collect at least 6,500 Solaris and add them to your backpack. This might take some time to complete, but don’t worry. There’s plenty to do and see in Dune Awakening, and going about the other quests should help you make enough Solaris to start the Taxation quest. Once your backpack has the required funds, you’ll need to travel to either of the two main hubs in the game, Arakeen or Harko Village.

In these areas, locate the Imperial Tax Representatives. This is the NPC that will collect your taxes whenever the payment is outstanding. Speaking with them will open up a small menu that shows how much of your taxes are pending. Pay off the amount to avoid repercussions. You will also get to see the amount of time remaining for you to clear the taxes.

The Taxation quest will end as soon as you speak with the Imperial Tax Representative at either of the locations. You will earn 100 XP as a quest completion reward. However, more than that, you’ll understand exactly how you have to pay off your taxes in the game. So, make sure not to spend all of the Solaris that you earn throughout your time in the game.
