Everything you need to know about Dying Light The Beast’s PC optimization, including the best settings to use for optimal performance.

Dying Light The Beast is a major step up in terms of visual fidelity and features, compared to its predecessor(s). However, unlike Dying Light at launch, which had a ton of performance-related issues, The Beast is rather well-optimized across all platforms. It seems the roughly month-long delay actually paid off and delivered fans a “polished” Dying Light experience. That said, the game does have a few rough edges, particularly when it comes to VRAM utilization. While there doesn’t seem to be a memory leak, The Beast can stutter and drop frame rate, occasionally.
The performance issues are mostly evident on older GPUs with limited VRAM. However, with a few tweaks to the graphics settings, you can easily remedy that. Here’s a comprehensive PC optimization guide for Dying Light The Beast, including the best settings to use for the game.

As for the renderer, DirectX 12, as usual, is significantly more stable than DX11. However, if you’re playing the game on a GPU without mesh shaders, or less than 8 GB of VRAM, it’s best to use DX11. Additionally, do note that on lower-end GPUs, increasing the FOV will affect performance. However, you can offset the performance impact by using DLSS or FSR. The game also supports XeSS, but in our testing, we found FSR to be a better option compared to the former.
While XeSS does resolve finer details much better, it doesn’t offer enough performance boost, unless you have enough VRAM to spare.
