In this walkthrough guide, we will cover the mission Battle of Xiangyang from Chapter 3 in Dynasty Warriors Origins.
After the Siege of Fan Castle mission, the Battle of Xiangyang gets unlocked. This mission is also a Wu faction mission, in which the Wanderer helps Sun Clan to increase the bond with this faction. Defeating Liu Biao is the main objective of the mission. However, escorting Sun Ce to the escape point becomes the primary objective as the mission progresses.
In this guide, we will walk the players to victory in the Battle of Xiangyang mission of Dynasty Warriors Origins.

Victory and Defeat Conditions
The main objective of the mission is to defeat Liu Biao. But after some time, escorting Sun Ce to the escape point becomes the main objective. If Sun Jiao or Sun Ce flees the battlefield, the mission will be marked as failed. Therefore, players need to keep their allies safe and help them in tough situations.

Battle Preparations
While preparing for Dynasty Warriors Origins’ Battle of Xiangyang, make sure to equip strong weapons and accessories. We recommend using attack-boosting items, such as Sash of Peerless Might and Ethereal Tiger’s Fang. Players can use any powerful weapon they are familiar with. The recommended weapon is Gnashing Fang, a two-handed sword. This podao-type weapon hits like a truck but is a little slow. On top of that, use the Oblivion Gem to increase attack range. Players can also use the Wellspring Gem to extract the full potential of Sash of Peerless Night.
Battle Walkthrough
The first step of this mission is seizing control of an enemy camp. Locate the nearest camp and clear the enemies to establish a foothold. The Wanderer will have to fight phantom soldiers and Zhang Jiao. As the fight continues, a cutscene will trigger, stating that Sun Jiao was killed by Huang Zu. If the player defeats Zhang Jiao before Huang Zu ambushes Sun Jiao, he can be saved. However, this is one of the most difficult parts of the game. If Sun Jiao is saved, the mission ends with an alternative ending.
If the player fails to save Sun Jiao, the main objective shifts to escorting Sun Ce to the escape point. Sun Ce’s morale plummets to the ground after seeing Sun Jiao’s death. Pierce through enemy forces to help Sun Ce escape to complete the Battle of Xiangyang mission of Dynasty Warriors Origins.
