The Happy Ghast is a brand new mob that was revealed at Minecraft Live 2025. This new mob is planned to be added to the game in an update in 2025. Additionally, the Happy Ghast is the first ever flying mob in Minecraft that we can tame and ride in the overworld. Moreover, you can also build structures while on them. But how do you get the Happy Ghast and tame it?

How Do You Get a Happy Ghast in Minecraft?
Happy Ghast does not start as a mob. You first have to find a Dried Ghast to grow a Happy Ghast from it. The only way to find Dried Ghast is by going to the Nether. You can find Dried Ghast blocks near the bone structures found within the Soul Sand Valley. The Dried Ghast is not guaranteed to be at every bone structure; therefore, you might need to look a bit harder for it.
Once you find a Dried Ghast block, you have to break it with your hands to get the Dried Ghast in your inventory. After you get the Dried Ghast, you then bring it to the overworld by going through the Nether Portal.
Once in the overworld, you have to place the Dried Ghast on the ground and use a water bucket on top of it to submerge the Dried Ghast block in water to rehydrate it. The sad face on the block slowly turns into a smile, and a Ghastling spawns from the block after some time.
The Ghastling is a cute baby version of the Ghasts found in the Nether. However, the baby versions are friendly and curious and will often float around the players. They will naturally grow into a Happy Ghast after some time, or you can feed the Ghastling snowballs to speed up the process.
What Does the Happy Ghast Do in Minecraft?
The Happy Ghast is a tamable mob, and all you need to do is craft and equip it with a Harness. You can lure the Happy Ghast to come close to you with the Harness in and ride it once harnessed. The Happy Ghast can support up to four players on its back, but only one player can control it.
The best thing about the Happy Ghast is that you can build while riding on it. This means you can build more creative structures with block placements in difficult-to-reach areas. Moreover, you can stand on the Happy Ghast to use it as a solid block and build while on it.
