The Dragon’s breath is arguably one of the rarest ingredients in the game. These are a shiny pack of glittering purple orbs only found in one specific area in the entire game. While these are rare, they also compensate by bringing an effect to the table, which could completely change your approach strategies in battles.

Let us take a look at how we can obtain Dragon’s Breath and how to use it effectively.

Obtaining Dragon’s Breath may be one of, if not the most, difficult items to source in the game. Firstly, you will need to find a stronghold to teleport you to the End. Read ‘How to Find the Ender Dragon in Minecraft?’ to find out the exact steps to accomplish this. After entering the End, there will be an Ender Dragon from whom you will be able to get the Dragon’s Breath.

There are two separate phases during which you will be able to collect the item. One is when the dragon is perched, and the other is when it is strafing. During both these periods, the dragon will shoot a fireball towards you. During the strafing phase, it is necessary to be within a radius of 64 blocks for the dragon to initiate the attack. Be careful not to be in the range of the attack, as the fireball has a harmful effect.

Once the dragon has shot its shot, you have to equip an empty glass bottle and approach the aftermath of the fireball. Use the bottle to capture the residues, and this will be the Dragon’s Breath ingredient.

Dragon’s breath is a key ingredient required to brew a lingering potion. Once you brew any splash potion, you have to take it to your brewing stand. Place the splash potion in one of the boxes below and the dragon’s breath in the box on top. With the blaze powder, the brewing process begins. Once done, you can collect the new lingering potion of the same effect.

Lingering potions are almost like splash potions, but better. With lingering potions, you can have any of the effects of your potion last longer via a form of a cloud. Regardless of who walks through this cloud, be it you, your allies, or enemy mobs, the effects latch onto them.

When a splash potion is thrown on the ground, it immediately disperses its effect around a certain radius, affecting anyone in that range. If no one is there at that moment, the splash potion gets wasted. On the contrary, when you throw a lingering potion, the effect lingers in a radius of 3 blocks for a duration of 30 seconds. This gives enough time for the intention to have an effect.
