Genshin Impact: Best Traveler Build

Explores the best Traveler build, optimizing weapons, artifacts, and team compositions to maximize their effectiveness in Genshin Impact.

The Traveler is the main character in Genshin Impact who is capable of using multiple elements by resonating with the Statue of The Seven in different regions. Because of the Traveler’s lackluster elemental scaling, players often prefer to switch the character out for higher DPS builds.

However, while the Traveler may not have the highest DPS potential, they offer flexibility and strong elemental reactions, making them a viable support character—especially in the early to mid-game. Additionally, we are introduced to Teyvat through their eyes, so creating a powerful Traveler build only seems right to maintain narrative immersion.

While the Traveler can switch through most of the elements in the game, we find that the Dendro Traveler can provide the best Traveler build for the main character. Compared to Anemo, which provides Swirl reactions, and Geo, which focuses on shield generation, Dendro stands out due to its synergy with multiple elemental reactions, making it the most effective choice for a support-oriented Traveler.

The Dendro build is based on the Dendro application and energy recharge. It can help overcome the Traveler’s mediocre skill scaling to deal good Dendro reaction damage and support other party members. The Traveler acquires Dendro as an element when they resonate with the Statue of The Seven in Sumeru.

Talents

The Dendro Traveler’s Elemental Skill, Razorgrass Blade, deals decent AoE Dendro damage while generating 2 to 3 Dendro particles. Surgent Manifestation is the most important part of the Traveler Dendro build, as it synergizes extremely well with other elements while dealing high AoE Dendro damage. To maximize its availability, we want to focus on increasing the Traveler’s energy recharge, which brings us to the best weapon choice.

Weapons

  1. Favonius Sword – With its high energy recharge rate, the sword shores up one of the Traveler’s key weaknesses.
  2. Sacrificial Sword – Energy Recharge and resets the Elemental Skill.
  3. Iron Sting (F2P) – Elemental damage increase and Elemental Mastery

Artifacts

Deepwood Memories grants a 15% Dendro damage bonus (2-piece set). The 4-piece set reduces enemies’ Dendro resistance by 30% for 8 seconds when they take damage from Elemental Skills or Bursts, even if the Traveler is off-field. This means that if you have another Dendro character in your team, they can synergize well and invest in more offensive options. The set will also allow the Traveler to provide effective Spread or Hyper Bloom support.

Alternative Artifact Sets:

  • Gilded Dreams – Increases Elemental Mastery and boosts attack or Elemental Mastery depending on team composition.
  • Emblem of Severed Fate – Boosts Energy Recharge and enhances Elemental Burst damage.

Best Team Compositions

The Dendro Traveler is most effective when paired with the right elemental types, making team composition crucial. The best teams should focus on elemental reactions like Quicken (Spread and Aggravate) and Bloom (Hyperbloom and Burgeon).

1. Hyperbloom Team (Dendro + Electro + Hydro)

  • Traveler (Dendro) – Main Dendro Applicator
  • Yelan/Xingqiu (Hydro) – Off-field Hydro application
  • Raiden Shogun/Fischl (Electro) – Off-field Electro triggers Hyperbloom
  • Kuki Shinobu (Electro) – Can heal while triggering Hyperbloom

2. Quicken Team (Dendro + Electro)

  • Traveler (Dendro) – Main Dendro support
  • Keqing/Cyno (Electro) – Aggravate trigger and main DPS
  • Nahida/Collei (Dendro) – Extra Dendro application
  • Zhongli (Geo) – Shield and resistance shred

3. Burgeon Team (Dendro + Hydro + Pyro)

  • Traveler (Dendro) – Sub-DPS and Dendro application
  • Ayato/Kokomi (Hydro) – Hydro application for Bloom
  • Thoma/Xiangling (Pyro) – Burgeon triggers
  • Bennett (Pyro) – Healing and attack boost

Kazuha or Sucrose can be added to a Burgeon team to provide additional Elemental Mastery buffs and spread Pyro/Hydro application with Swirl.
