Everything you need to know about the PS5 graphics modes in Ghost of Yotei, including details on resolution, frame rate, and more.

Ghost of Yotei is arguably one of the most visually arresting games on the PS5, even more so than its predecessor. While it’s technically making use of the same foundation as Ghost of Tsushima, Yotei does bring some key improvements to the visuals, especially in terms of lighting. For starters, Ghost of Yotei is the very first game from Sucker Punch Productions to feature ray tracing.
Although the implementation of RT is limited to shadows and GI, it’s still a massive improvement over their previous games. Surprisingly enough, the game ships with support for RT on both PS5 models (Standard and Pro). Furthermore, much like Ghost of Tsushima, Yotei comes with a host of graphics modes to choose from.

Ghost of Yotei ships with three graphics modes – Quality, Performance, and Ray-tracing. The modes are identical across both PS5 and PS5 Pro, with the only key difference being internal resolution. On base PS5, the Quality Mode targets a 4K output (upscaled) with a locked 30fps frame rate. The Performance mode, on the other hand, targets 1440p with locked 60fps.
As for the Ray-tracing Mode, it also targets 30fps, but with resolution being dialed back to 1440p (upscaled from 1080p). However, in RT mode, you do get access to RTGI and RT Shadows, which vastly elevates the game’s visuals. On PS5, all these settings remain identical, save for the resolution targets. Here’s a rundown of the graphics modes on PS5 and PS5 Pro:
Quality Mode
- PS5: 4K (upscaled) at 30fps.
- PS5 Pro: 4K (native, with checkerboarding) at 30fps.
Performance Mode
- PS5: 1440p (upscaled from 1080p base) at 60fps.
- PS5 Pro: 4K (upscaled from 1440p base) at 60fps.
Ray-tracing Mode
- PS5: 1440p (upscaled from 1080p base) at 30fps.
- PS5 Pro: 1440p at 30fps.

Ghost of Yotei’s RT mode is incredibly rudimentary. However, if you’re okay with taking the resolution hit, it’s worth keeping enabled. With RT enabled, the game’s visuals get a noticeable glow up, especially when it comes to indirectly lit scenes (house interiors, castles, etc.). Although RT here isn’t nearly as impressive as games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it’s still worth trying out.
Also, if not for gameplay, you can use the RT mode for Photmode.
