Ghost of Yotei: Best Odachi Build Guide

The Odachi is a longer and heavier version of the Katana in Ghost of Yotei. It is highly effective against larger opponents and can be obtained through a questline. While the Katana may be reliable, there will be times when Atsu needs something with more blunt force to deal with tougher enemies.

Before you can craft the best build, you must first unlock the weapon. Atsu can acquire it after completing the quest called The Way of the Odachi. It is a tedious and challenging yet rewarding training experience for both her and the player. This side quest revolves around Master Yoshida teaching Atsu the fundamentals of using the weapon.

Once you have this weapon, you can access the skill tree to learn new moves. While the weapon has a few drawbacks, you can compensate for them by selecting the best armor.

For the Odachi build, we recommend using either the Spider Lily armor or the Armor of the Undying. These are all the perks from the Spider-Lily armor:

Enemies have a minor chance to drop throwable weapons.
Stagger damage inflicted by melee weapons increases by a minor amount.
Staggering an enemy has a minor chance of dealing minor Stagger damage to nearby enemies.

On the other hand, the Armor of the Undying is an excellent option for faster stagger build up. Here are all its perks:

Staggering enemies restores a minor amount of Health.
The window to perform Perfect Parry and Perfect Dodge is increased by a minor amount.
Focus Attacks have a minor chance to increase Stagger damage.

Charms

Charm of Thunderous Assault: This charm can increase your chances of taking down an enemy once staggered with the long sword.

For this build, you may use any charm that prioritizes Melee for maximum damage output.
