Ghost of Yotei: Black Knight Kubo Bounty Walkthrough

In this guide, we’ll explore where and how you can complete the Black Knight Kubo bounty in Ghost of Yotei.

Black Knight Kubo bounty is Ghost of Yotei can be a bit tricky to complete. That’s because the target doesn’t just spawn for every player. Instead, you must meet one requirement first for Kubo to come out into the open and faceoff against Atsu. Like all bounties in the game, this one too will test your proficiency in combat, as Kubo isn’t an easy enemy to face by any means. So, you’ll need to be prepared for all eventualities. With that in mind, here’s a detailed guide on the bounty, including where to pick it up and how to complete it.

To take up the bounty, you’ll need to head to the Red Crane Inn in Teshio Ridge. There’s a bounty board just outside this inn. Interact with it and you should be able to take up the bounty. As per his poster, Kubo was last seen at a dueling ring somewhere in the Sentinel Forest. To find the exact location, simply open up your map and zoom in. Now, at max zoom, set a marker between the words ‘Sentinel’ and ‘Forest’ on the map. When you reach this place, you’ll need to slash through some bamboo to reach the Black Knight Dueling Ring. Here, you’ll find a corpse and a pair of clapping wooden blocks. Simply interacting with the blocks won’t spawn Kubo. Instead, you’ll need to meet a specific requirement first.

How To Force Kubo To Spawn

You need to equip a black dyed armor set before interacting with the clapping blocks. If you don’t already have such an armor, the easiest one to acquire is the Nine Tail Armor. You’ll get it automatically while progressing the Kitsune main tale. Fortunately, this takes place in Teshio Ridge as well. The armor set in question comes with a default black dye, dubbed the Eyes in Smoke.

Alternatively, you can head west to the Teshio River, where you’ll find the Black Dye Merchant. Here, you can dye any of your armor sets black before returning to the Black Knight Dueling Ring. Clapping the wooden blocks with any black dyed armor on will trigger a cutscene, where Black Night Kubo will appear.

Black Knight Kubo will begin the duel with a spear. However, after you hit him a few times, Atsu will be able to disarm him. This causes the enemy to switch to sword and shield. Keep in mind that he’ll still continue swapping between those weapons throughout the battle. The fight isn’t anything extraordinary in terms of strategy. Simply move out of the way of red flashing attacks, while parrying the blue glint ones.

Kubo will roll out of the way when you’re trying to execute a combo of attacks. This can be frustrating, but we suggest a bit of patience here. If he blocks your attacks, keep pounding on him to fill up his stagger bar. When the bar is full, you will break through and get multiple hits in. Following these simple steps should help you to defeat Kubo in a few minutes.
