Learn how to complete the Blue Yamauba bounty in Ghost of Yotei, uncover Miyo’s tragic story, defeat her, and earn powerful rewards.
If you have reached the Ishikari Plain in Ghost of Yotei, you will eventually stumble upon one of the most tragic hunts in the game, the Blue Yamauba bounty. You will take on the role of Atsu as you track down Miyo, a mother whose grief turned her into something terrifying.
You can pick up this bounty from the Ishikari Market Bounty Board once you have finished a few earlier hunts. It’s available in Chapter 1, and your journey will end at the Blackened Homestead, tucked southeast of Urara Forest. In this article, we will explore everything you need to know about the Blue Yamauba Bounty in Ghost of Yotei.
How To Find Blue Yamauba Bounty in Ghost of Yotei

You will start off in Ishikari Market, so check the bounty board there. Once the Blue Yamauba poster appears, talk to Kojiro the Bounty Broker to officially begin your hunt. From there, you will head east toward Ishikari Fork. You will know you are in the right place when you spot a settler being attacked by Oni Raiders at a crossroads.
Take them out quickly. When you talk to the survivor, he will hand you the Blue Yamauba Drawing, a sketch showing a masked woman with a haunting blue face. He claims she burned an entire raider camp to the ground and killed both captors and captives alike. Next, you will need to find Saburo the Mask Artisan at Oni’s Breath Inn in Urara Forest.
You will spot him outside surrounded by hanging masks. Hand him the drawing, and he will recognize it; it’s one of his own. He will tell you he sold that exact mask to a woman named Miyo about a full moon ago. She wanted it to protect her son, which adds a painful layer to what’s coming next. Saburo mentions she lived somewhere northeast of the inn, near a place called the Blackened Homestead.
Get Ready for the Fight
Now travel towards the Blackened Homestead. When you approach the right spot, you will see the remnants of a burned-down house surrounded by Oni Raiders. If you don’t see any enemies, it means you missed a step; make sure you have spoken to Saburo first. Clear out the raiders and head inside the building. Inside, you will find three objects to inspect in order:
- A pile of rocks with incense near the doorway.
- A stack of masks in the corner.
- A burned wooden doll is lying on a mat nearby.
That doll tells you everything; Miyo’s son died in the fire caused by the Oni Raiders. Her grief consumed her, and the kind woman Saburo knew became the monster everyone now fears. Once you check all three items, a cutscene begins. Miyo appears, masked and furious, convinced Atsu is one of the raiders. Before Atsu can calm her, more raiders show up, sealing your fate. The fight begins here.
The Final Battle With Blue Yamauba

This battle can get messy. Miyo is fast and unpredictable, and the extra Oni Raiders make things worse. You will need to balance defense, patience, and precise timing. Keep your guard up. Regular attacks can be blocked with L1, but watch for glints:
- Blue glint means you can parry if you tap L1 right on time.
- Red glint means dodge immediately; it can’t be blocked.
- Yellow glint signals a disarming move. Hold Triangle and release at the right moment to counter.
Focus on the raiders first; they’ll keep interrupting you if you ignore them. Taking them out helps you build your Spirit meter, which lets you heal or trigger special attacks. If you like range and safety, the Yari spear works best. If you prefer close combat, stick with your Katana and wait for perfect dodge chances. When you dodge at the last second, time slows briefly and opens up an easy counter.
Once you have beaten her and the raiders, Miyo falls. Pick up the Blue Yamauba Mask from her body; it’s a twisted reflection of what she’s become. Then return to Kojiro at Ishikari Market to claim your 1,500 Mon. If you miss collecting the mask, you can still buy it later from Taro the Scavenger for 200 Mon.
