Find out the best ways to negate fall damage in Ghost of Yotei and other creative ways where it can be applied.
Fall damage exists and is a clear threat to Atsu in Ghost of Yotei. While the people of Ezo believe she is a restless spirit and immune to any danger, gravity is one of her strongest opponents. Fortunately, there is a way to negate it, but only if you can get the timing right. This is a survival technique that could come in handy at tall places.
In this guide, we will be taking a look at how Atsu can save herself from sustaining fall damage in Ghost of Yotei. Find out the proper technique and some misconceptions about the ability.

Negating Fall Damage in Ghost of Yotei

There are a few ways to negate fall damage in Ghost of Yotei, such as hopping down onto smaller boulders until you reach the bottom. However, there are a few instances where Atsu’s momentum could not be slowed down before making a jump. This is where the Safe Fall technique comes in clutch.
Before you can unlock this ability, you must first have the Roll technique. Essentially, this technique will allow Atsu to roll forward after a high jump and let the momentum roll safely rather than taking it all to her knees. The Safe Roll can come in handy in traversal if you don’t want to get around an area by backtracking or descending safely. These are the steps to perform a Safe Roll:
- Sprint and press X on your DualSense controller.
- Before landing, press O immediately to safely roll.
You can even use this in combat, especially if there are a few high areas. Move around and strike enemies while making a quick escape. This is an excellent skill to have, especially if you play like an assassin or a Ghost.
This Survival Technique Will Not Save You From Guaranteed Demise

If you attempt to leap off a tall structure, like a tower, and hope the Safe Roll technique will save you, it will not. You will know that there is no way to survive a fall once the camera speed starts to zoom with you, and everything around you will start to blur.
There are lethal heights, and it would make sense that it would kill you since Atsu is human. We recommend using the Safe Roll ability in areas that are realistically survivable from fall damage.
