This Ghost of Yotei walkthrough guide will take you through the Shelter of the Storm side quest from start to finish.
The Oni Raiders are a constant thorn to the Matsumae over the course of Ghost of Yotei’s story, and the Shelter from the Storm quest throws you deep into this conflict. Your job, in this quest, is to find a missing Matsumae scout who is being hunted by the Oni Raiders.
The task seems simple, but the raiders are plenty, and there’s very little information to go on as far as the scout is concerned. If you’re having any trouble with this quest, our guide here will walk you through it.
How To Begin Shelter from the Storm in Ghost of Yotei
You begin the Shelter from the Storm quest by talking to a Matsumae soldier in the Matsumae Outpost of Ishikari Plain. Walk up to the soldier, and he’ll ask you for your help, stating that one of his scouts has gone missing.
Since the raiders are relentless with their attacks, he has no men to spare to search for the scout. He wants you to look for him instead, and is willing to pay whatever you ask. Finish this conversation and head to Ishikari Farm north of the outpost. This is marked on your map if you’re having trouble finding it.
Enter the farm and you’ll find a woman cleaning her doorstep. Talk to her, and she’ll ask you for help, too. The woman’s daughter has taken in a wounded Matsumae soldier, and the woman wants you to take him away out of fear of getting caught by the raiders.
Follow the woman, and she will lead you to the scout, Ikeda. Ikeda is wounded, and the Oni Raiders are looking for him. He wants your help heading back to camp. Select the “Accept Job” option to take on his request and kick off the quest.

How To Complete Shelter from the Storm in Ghost of Yotei

While Ikeda recovers from his wounds, you have to stand guard outside the shed to watch for any Oni Raiders. It won’t take long for the raiders to arrive, and they’ll do so boldly with a horn. You then have the option to stand and fight in a standoff, or use the grass nearby to pick them off using stealth. Either option works, but we suggest using stealth as they’re all spread out and easy to pick off.
Once you kill all the raiders, Ikeda will come out limping, ready to leave. The daughter will stubbornly accompany you both, and you then have to escort the duo back to the Matsumae Outpost. Lead the two back to camp while fending off Oni Raiders to complete this objective.
