Ghost of Yotei’s Sorrow in Snow quest shows the deep-rooted impact the war is having on the youth of the country. Many are not able to fend for themselves or those they love, becoming easy prey for Nine Tails’ effective radicalization methods. The Sorrow in Snow quest puts you in a direct crossfire between one such youth, Shokichi, and the Nine Tails that are preying on his vulnerabilities. This is one of the better quests in the game, and this guide will walk you through it from start to finish.

How To Begin Sorrow in Snow in Ghost of Yotei

You begin the Sorrow in Snow quest by talking to the settler by the bridge near the Red Crane Inn. Spawn near the Red Crane Inn gate, but instead of entering, take a right and continue down the road till you see a bridge on your left. A settler is standing by the bridge. The settler will call out to you.

Walk up to the settler and press R2 to talk to him. The old man will reveal that his grandson has gone missing and desperately needs your help to find him. Click on “Accept Job” to accept his request and begin the quest.

How To Complete Sorrow in Snow in Ghost of Yotei

When you accept the job, the settler will reveal that his grandson, Shokichi, was last seen hunting in the Hakodake Mountains a few days ago. Since that’s his last known location, that’s where you need to go. Head to Hakodake Mountains and reach the search area by following the objective marker.

Once you’re in the search area, look to your left to find a climbable cliff. Climb up and then look to your right to discover a parkour route. Follow this route to an abandoned campsite. Head to the center of the campsite and restart the fire.

The fire will draw the attention of Shokichi, who will confront you. He’ll reveal that he has joined the Nine Tails to provide for his ailing grandfather. As you try to tap into his conscience, a Nine Tail interrupts and tries to take him away. When Shokichi resists, the man threatens to kill him. This kicks off a chase.

Run behind the Nine Tail and stop him from killing Shokichi. Fend off and kill the other Nine Tails that arrive as reinforcement. Once they’re all dead, Shokichi will regret his actions and promise to return to his grandfather, thereby ending the quest.
